Located near the scenic Vico Road in Dublin, Hawk Cliff is one of the few official nude beaches in Ireland, offering a serene retreat for both nudists and naturists. This clothing-optional beach provides a discreet and picturesque setting where privacy and respect are highly valued. The legal status of Hawk Cliff as a nudist beach was solidified in 2018, making it a significant spot for those who embrace the naturist lifestyle.
The beach itself is surrounded by steep cliffs and offers a breathtaking view of the Irish Sea, making it not only a place for nude recreation but also a spot of natural beauty. Although amenities are minimal, the clear waters and the tranquility of the surroundings make up for the lack of facilities. Visitors should be prepared to bring essentials such as water, sunscreen, and perhaps a picnic, as there are no shops or restaurants immediately nearby.
For those interested in the history of the area, Hawk Cliff was once known primarily for its birdwatching prospects, with the cliffs providing a perfect vantage point for spotting various species. Hawk Cliff, Vico Road Directions
This is a small bathing place just outside the village of Dalkey, not far from Dun Laoghaire. In Dalkey turn onto Sorrento Rd. and then turn right onto the coast road (Vico Rd). The bathing place is signposted. Walk across the footbridge and follow the path. To the left is the path down to the changing huts and diving board. This area is not used by naturists except very early in the morning. When textile bathers start to arrive, naturists must move around the rocks to a small cove.rrAnother bathing spot on the Vico Road is White Rock Beach. This is accessed from the parking area further along the Vico Road. Follow any of the paths leading from the parking area down to the pedestrian bridge over the railway and take the steps down to the beach from there. Again this area not used by naturist except very early in the morning.
