It was once nice...now just filled with trashy people
3.00Was a rather nice day, the beach has changed its shape several times over the years, but it was filled around the edges and at the waterline with people. Many people here are just sitting around drinking and no one was playing volleyball like in years past. Lots of mean people and unfriendly discussions. One insecure guy had to run over to some other guy (tales from the crypt beach guru or something) and talk about his out of control girl friend who couldn`t shut up about being a racist...disappointing weekend for me as it was the first time for a friend I brought...I was embarrassing!
Pros: One of only a few Midwest locations
Cons: dysfunctional people

Closed during the week
1.00I read that it was closed, I read that it was open. Wanted to see for myself yesterday. It was unusually cold for late May but wanted to scope it out for future reference. Arrived to a locked gate. I can confirm it is closed. Maybe they will reopen during the week or I can schedule a trip over a weekend and really experience Mazo.
Pros: easy drive from Madison
Cons: closed during the week

A beautiful, spiritual place
5.00This place is wonderful. The very first time I went here I felt a greater, and somewhat spiritual connection with nature. It made me realize the benefits of being nude in nature. Even though I live 3 hours away I always make a effort to get out to this wonderful beach at least a few times a year. Its a great escape. Its a great place if you are new to nudism and would like to take the next step into a more social setting. Most people are friendly here and will leave you alone as they themselves go there to relax and not be bothered.
Pros: its FREE
Cons: only open on weekends :(

3rd time
3.00I love the relaxing feel and the setting on a midwest river is great. The beach area was smaller this year due to the high river. I haven`t found too many friendly people here or maybe they just don`t go out of their way with single men. If you like a small crowd and out of the way location this is a great spot. It`s around a mile walk from the parking area so you either need lots of bug spray or a bicycle to avoid bites.
Pros: Peaceful, out of the way, few stalkers, great views
Cons: Not overly friendly, long walk with mosquitos, not much to do
