I've been reading through everyone's thoughts with interest. Body hair truly comes down to personal preference. I've attempted going completely smooth, but maintaining it became overwhelming my thick, wiry pubic hair requires constant attention. Nature blessed me with dense underarm growth as well, though I've always wished for more across my chest and legs. There's something compelling about those vintage black-and-white nudist photographs from decades past men displaying their natural state, unashamed. Their abundant body hair and large bushes seemed to embody confidence, a primal authenticity I've always admired. The juxtaposition between today's smooth aesthetic and that natural, hirsute presentation creates an interesting visual dialogue. At this point in my life, I've embraced my full bush perhaps even wishing for more hair elsewhere. At the clothing-optional venues I frequent, this partial wildness sets me apart from the meticulously manicured masses, a distinction I've come to savor. While some feel that smooth skin heightens their sense of nakedness, I find there's an equally profound vulnerability in standing before others with every follicle intact, exactly as you were born. Differences keep life interesting and to each his own.
I have gone through a love hate relationship with my body hair. As a young man in my 20s I thought, like many people my age then, that body hair wasn't looked upon as attractive. I tried shaving smooth was that was a never ending battle that I quickly decided was not worth the effort. Then I went to clippers and just trimmed everything down short while getting my wife to use hair removal creams on my back to keep that smooth. The amount of ingrown hairs I got on my back was horrendous, and the pain that came with it quickly made me rethink that. So I decided to embrace the fact I am a hirsute man. A few times a year I will trim back my pits, mostly because I sweat a lot and don't want to smell from that and shorter pit hair means my deodorant works more effectively. And I trim back my pubes because I personally like the look of that. I don't shave anything anymore, in fact quite the opposite. I let my hair grow out long, I have a big full beard, my entire body is covered in hair from my head to my toes. I will say, my body hair isn't as dark as my head or beard hair, so I don't think its as visible until I get wet. Once I get wet the hair becomes far more visible and you can really see how hairy I am. Would I want more body hair? I guess it wouldn't bother me if I was hairier. But I have zero to desire to try and be smooth bodied, and honestly I wouldn't want less body hair either.
I deal with the body hair that I have. Sometimes I trim it on chest and pubic area but I never shave. On the other hand, today I'm wishing that I had shaved an area where I had a recent minor surgery, because pulling the tape off when I change the dressing is driving me nuts! LOL
