Something given

Several years ago an unexpected disability pointed me in a new direction in life--not where I could've ever imagined being at this point. Nonetheless, in dealing with the situation, I've come to embrace it, experiencing fulfillment and wonder in a place I never could've imagined. The cameraderie of a support network has proven to be richly rewarding. I find myself thinking of it as a gift--something given rather than something taken away. I'm sure others in the Group can relate to this, anyone have thoughts to share??

I think this is simply another example of the fact that people will almost always be kind and helpful if you give them the opportunity.
It's entirely down to your being the sort of person who does not demand everybody's sympathy as a right.

Yes, prostate cancer for me in 2009. Surgery changed my life, but I AM ALIVE. Changes but for the best.
