Excellent thread! I'm trying to bring it to a practical level where change can happen. Let's assume most people don't care about others' nudity, but feel vulnerable regarding their own. The point of nudity=sex is well taken as young men can be embarrassed not by exposing their penises, but rather having fear they're signaling something sexual in the process. People are busy - all people - so promoting events is easier than a lifestyle or ism. People generally fall into them and want to define it on their terms, which is one reason churches are such revolving doors. Getting back to the World Naked Bike Ride, it's great promotion since it's 1) a happening 2) damn impossible to have sex on a bicycle or to have some spokes to hide behind like dune grass 3) centrally located 4) excellent "exposure" and 5) fun and daring.
So my thoughts about promoting nudism are no somewhere along the lines of: 1) Forget resorts as out of touch, out of reach and out of style 2) make it a fun happening that breaks the paradigm that nudity must lead to either washing or sex and 3) figure out a way to use social media to make nakedness more viral than potentially embarrassing (face mask friendly) and 3) make it all-inclusive, safe/non-predatory and affirming.
They need to realize the harm that it causes our movement and come up with a more realistic approach in preventing voyeuristic conditions that plague our female members. Discriminatory policies benefit no one.

Points well taken . Except something that always seems to get lost is that you just legitimized that women shoul dbe treat as if they are a victim instead of a full participating member or nudist which sets the stage for them to abuse that analogy and for other to abuse that line of accepted thinking . Which puts the blame on men , wether they done anything wrong or not . guilty till proven innocent in affect . and the older boys see it at resorts they grew up in and dont want that put on them , so the leave. It almost seems you folks that have that mind set can't see the forest for the trees, or the stumps.
Trkrbob1 - Nowhere in my posting have I indicated how women are victims here. You are inferring this because there exists a policy among some resorts that single men are not openly welcomed due to the prevalence of their voyeuristic nature towards women. The predominate point here being made is one of discrimination, not victimization. In fact, if anyone is being victimized here its single men. I will say that if this is indeed a big issue for resorts, they should apply it on a case by case basis and not make assumptions that all single men fall into this category. This mind set that you have labeled is not an accurate portrayal in this discussion. If you see it this way, then I respectfully disagree with your inference and that you should try and look at it in a different light. Perhaps getting out of the forest might help.
woodsman21 - You were indeed a lucky person. I wish that opportunities like that were evident in my time, but I was not personally aware of nudism type of activities until after leaving high school. At that time, the idea of nudist camps had taken on pornagraphic undertones and the common thought was more about depravity rather than wholesome living. American history with nudism has never really been very positive, and today, it still struggles with some historic perceptions. In some ways it seems like the American social structure is not quite ready to embrace just yet. But I believe its time to re-educate society in a way that provide sustainability no matter what challenges come our way.
Hey, I really appreciate all the comments here. There has been a lot of positive information and believe me, I am taking notes! But one thing I was hoping for most of all is a woman's perspective. I believe that this is a critical component in rebuilding the positive image of socially nude lifestyle. What will also be important is being able to integrate within the textile environment so that no one should ever be afraid to admit to being a nudist. So if there are any women out there, regardless of any personal distinctions, your input here is more than welcomed. And please remember, even if it seems critical towards the cause, the information is still welcomed because our total awareness will be more beneficial in the long run. It will also help as we implement any improvement strategies moving forward.
You have pretty much a blank profile so hard to give you much suggestions of direction. Given your location there are several nudist destinations
within travel distance to experience social nudity and talk to others face to face.
Honestly, I didnt really see the need to go any further when I set up my account here. But in the interest of transparency, I updated it today. My main purpose in being here is to find ways of improving access towards a nude life. I am personally saddened that I didnt follow my heart in this regard more than 20 years ago. I cant change the past, but I hope to change my future. I think I can make a positive contribution towards improving access to this lifestyle but I know I cant do it alone. For the moment, this site is my platform but soon my website will go live and hopefully within a years time, I will have incentivized others to join in helping nudism - or however you want to label it - achieve the legitimacy it deserves and that society will begin to embrace its partnership to the human race and bring sustainability to the life we all love.

I stand by my comments , it is common knowledge that women thru demeaning men of all ages in regard to alleged voyeurism or sexualizing and or about hitting on women , has in affect become the norm to discriminate against men and thusly it has become accepted that women are seen as victimized! To which your own comments did elude to.

One of the things that's become painfully apparent in the last few years is that women have been victimized. They become objects of sexual attraction from the time they start growing breasts, and it continues until it gets to where they're "of a certain age" and no longer as attractive to men. That's a simple fact of life.
I don't find it surprising that most women regard men who want to see them naked with suspicion, regardless of the motives the men have. This is why I feel that men have to out of their way to let people know that their motives are based in a sincere love of nudism and a respect for women. It's much like adopting a rescue dog whose previous owners have been rough on her. She'll need a lot of un-conditioning before she realizes that a hand extended to her is for petting her rather than striking her.
That said, I do agree that while it's up to the men to behave themselves, it's up to women in power to recognize and respect those men who are willing to act decently, and will not paint all men with the same broad brush of suspicion. I've met a lot of women who do just that.
Some observations from a trip to a clothing optional beach.
It was the middle of the day in the middle of the week which may make some difference as to who was there. Some were single men as was I. Other guys were part of a couple, but there were few single women there. The women tended to come and go in groups. There were adults of all ages with the vast majority of college age into their 30's. Some of us went into the water to swim others just waded in. Some guys wore shorts, most were nude, and all of the women I noticed were topless with a few wearing a bikini bottom.
Not that this is from a scientific study but it does indicate somewhat that young people are enjoying nude time not related to sex. My thought is that for them finances are more of a struggle and they would choose to spend what money they have in places other than resorts. Public beaches and parks may be the preferred venue if only there were enough of them close to home or work and they are easy to get to. This beach had very limited parking and it was not very large to begin with.
As for those 25 year olds that were mentioned in a previous post who thought that skinny dipping was gross. I would bet that if they were guys who were coaxed by a girlfriend, they would strip down without hesitation.
If there are to be more places designated as nudity allowed, I believe there would be more naked people in the open. To get those places, it takes concentrated effort and good communication. It is the strength in numbers thing. It would take the kind of organization like the WNBR has to set aside a day at a particular beach and for a large group of people to not only attend, but participate. WNBR is not necessarily tolerated by even a majority, but it has grown to a point where people travel some distance to participate and though the law against nudity may still stand, it is a constitutional right to protest and be naked doing it.
