read an article...

...that said more and more men in their 30's are being diagnosed with prostate cancer, but are ignoring the doctors advice for surgery for fear of impotence. I have recently read that their are new procedures using lazers that decrease the risk of impotence. I hope these men make the right decision. I am alive and impotent and still prefer that decision to the other.

It's been almost two years since my prostate has been removed. I have been impotent since. Cealis and viagra haven't helped. I'm trying vacuum therapy now but I haven't got it to work very well. Getting an erection with the vacuum device leaves my penis felling "plastic" in that the skin is stretched tight and can't move up and down the shaft. My next step will be the inflatable implant because I am NOT giving up on sex.

Well, I got the implant. Had to let it heal for a few months before I could use it. It works really well, except for the fact that my penis is shorter than is was before I had my prostate removed. The nice thing is you don't have to worry about the "four hour" thing. If you fall asleep with it hard, there is no problems. Also if you are more tired than your partner, they can keep going with you just laying there. Or if you're energetic that day you can go forever!!

I had 3 transurethral operations to ream out the middle of the prostate which was slowing urination-- the QUACK who operated on me said it would have no effect on sexual sensation or erectile function..This was 10 years ago when I was only 56 and everything worked fine. I was left with about 80 percent sensation loss and sporadic erectile function....I would have been better off with the urinary trouble and full sexual function and sensation.....I was also left with retrograde ejaculation--- semen is fired into the bladder and then comes out when I urinate...THE BANG feeling of an orgasm is gone forever and all because of an incompetent quack....

Just found this group and have been reading replies........I have had a radical proctectomy and have not been able to achieve an erection firm enough for penetration. I pleaded with the Prostate Surgeon to do the best he could to save the nerve bunches that are attached to the prostate. The more nerves that are preserved the better the opportunity for penis performance. Unfortunately, my nerves were almost totally destroyed. The surgeon said, with ongoing penis attention the nerves may regrow.......that takes several years to potentially regenerate.

After two years I can get a turgid penis if I stand and twist my body, flopping my penis back and forth. As that happens, I do get some blood flow into my penis, and I get about 1/2 hard.

What I have been doing for an erection is a penis pump with a tight constrictor at the base of the pump that slides off onto the erect penis. Water base lube works well if you lube your penis prior to using the pump. Having a constrictor at the base of the pump that slides off and grasps the vey base of your penis will hold your penis in a very hard condition. Recommendations are for no more than 30 minutes (not to constrict the blood flow any longer than that).
The other option is penis injections of Tri Mix or BiMix. Both work exceptionally well.........my penis becomes erect within 10 minutes and lasts for over an hour.

Glad to chat 'bout my personal experiences anytime.!
Ken
