Anyone goes to the YMCA in NYC?
Hi everyone. I've been thinking of joining the YMCA gyms because I heard they have communal showers and saunas.
Do you know of any good YMCA in Brooklyn, Queens, or Long Island that have communal showers? Or anywhere it's common for guys to be naked in the locker rooms? It doesn't have to be like a Korean Spa, but one where it's common for guys to get naked and change in the locker room. Or where guys can take off their towel in the sauna without other guys complaining? Even better if it's common for guys to chat nude in the saunas?
I'm thinking about going to the one in Cross Island because they have a parking lot, but I don't know if they have communal showers?
Or even if they don't exactly have communal shower if they still allow some opportunity to be naked with others? For example I seen some pics of YMCA that have dividers between showers but have the hooks to hang your towels on the other side of the room. So guys would have to get naked, hang up their towels and then walk to their shower.
I just miss the communal showers and I'm really sick of guys getting mad when I take off my clothes to change at Planet Fitness.
And if you do go to the YMCA, I'll love to have a gym shower buddy to go with so send me a message.
While not in NY a couple of the Ys that I use in Southern New England do offer the communal shower areas, and sauna and steam areas within the locker room. I would estimate the clothed/unclothed ratio in the steam and sauna areas are probably 50%. Not perfect, but also not horrible.

I stayed at the West Side Y near Lincoln Center this summer. They have put in stalls in the locker room except for one row that is still open. Many guys used the open ones instead of the stalls. The showers on the guest floors are individual showers, but you have to step out to get dressed which is right by the sinks.
