RE:Separating social nudity from sexual nudity

This injection of sexual pursuits into social nudity is, I believe, a major reason why there is a US stigma against nudity. This is never the case in Europe. Germany is a good example, where almost every public pool has a section set aside for the cism is not an issue.lothes-free to enjoy and libertinism is not an issue.

Exactly it doesnt mean those people arent out there is Europe but there are clear boundaries. IMO part of that is due to the fact that the Europeans maintained the ethical and philosophical principles of naturism while Americans opted for a primarily recreational view of social nudity focused mainly on a state of undress described as nudism. Brian Hoffman examines this in his book Naked. As does Maurice Parmelee in Nudism in Modern Life. Unfortunately as a society we dont read much any more and get our perspectives from the internet.

RE:Separating social nudity from sexual nudity

I think I derive the joy of being seen naked and also see people of all shapes and sizes in nude.

I have a huge respect who can distinguish social nudity from sexual nudity.

Nudity not always means sexuality

I couldn't agree more. Since i am from India, nudism is considered taboo. It's really hard to find nudist friends here and even if people are involved in nudism, they feel shy is accepting that in public. I understand your thinking of being seen and spending some memorable time with other nudists. I actually want to live this lifestyle 24x7.

RE:Separating social nudity from sexual nudity

The proclamation that "Nudism is not about SEEING or being SEEN" is debatable IMHO.Because I don't think we can dismiss the visual element in social nudity. For example when my wife sees that everyone is nude at the resort, she feels more comfortable with people seeing her naked as well. It's enjoyable to see our friends displaying confidence in their nudity - and they feeling the same way about me. It's about acceptance and appreciation more than "titillation."I think for that idea to be more sensible you have to add "Nudism is not about SEEING or being SEEN - sexually." Because then it becomes something else that might not be about nudism.

Who are we kidding, folks. ;)

When I first started practicing nudity I was always self-conscious about thoughts that might cross my mind if I saw someone with a nice physique. Or whatever. As if that went against the bylaws of what a true nudist is. 'You can't have those thoughts! Otherwise you're not a real nudist!'

But let's face it, we all do. Have those thoughts. And they can't even be hidden on TN when you think about it.

When a man sees a woman walking down the street with her breasts hanging out, and her mini skirt hiked up her thighs. you don't think she wants guys looking at her, or that guys AREN'T looking at her. And thinking things. If they weren't they wouldn't be human.

So what makes you think they aren't going to be checking out a woman who his naked.

And the female response to a naked man will be the same.

Proof? I popped over to the chat board a few minutes ago and there was this pretty boy, in his 20s, who posted his pic. Perfect body. Great penis. And a gazillion "like" hearts popped up next to his picture within seconds.

The 70 year old man above him, nothing.

Again, when they saw the young hottie, what do you think was on their mind.

I jokingly messaged him and told him he was the belle of the ball. With all the hearts. He was like, 'ha, ha, thanks. I didn't even notice.'

Yeah, sure he didn't! lol. That's why he posted it. To get everyone (a)roused.

I think we need to quit pretending that sex and nudity will exist within some separate vacuums.

And as a quick addendum, titillation vs. appreciation? Nah. We can convince ourselves we were just "appreciating" his body, but the way those hearts were flying....there was more than just appreciation going on. ;) And go to his profile and look at the sexualized comments about his penis, and his butt as he's lying there on his bed. Come on guys.

RE:Separating social nudity from sexual nudity

However, nudism is a choice. Are you sure about that? I was "built" that way, born nude. I would say that putting something on is the choice. All the more reason nudity should be accepted by all humans. But as per the subject of this thread, sexual acts are a personal matter and should be kept personal. On the other hand, simple reminders that we are living sexual beings (like an erection) should not shock a fellow human being, especially ones that are used to seeing the natural human body.

Wearing clothes are a choice. Nudity, as you have mentioned is not a choice. It is who we are.
Biological phenomena are not designed to shock anyone. People mistakenly think that when a nudist guy is having an erection, it is about THEM.

On a thread about separating social nudity and sexual nudity there are always those who think nudism is all about them and their erection.

Never fails.

We go on nude cruises where there are literally thousands of nudists walking around the ship and some of the private island stops and yet no erections. We go to large social nudist events at the big resorts where there are literally hundreds of nudists walking around grounds and yet no erections... almost like social nudist men don't get erections at inappropriate times in inappropriate locations.
