New England nude hikes summer 2025?
Wonder if there is any interest in scheduling additional nude hikes this summer. I went on the summer solstice hike and one other nude hike in the month of June, had great time. It would be great to get a few nude hikers together for some additional hikes before the summer slips away
I did a spur-of-the-moment hike on the southernmost stretch of the Long Trail a couple of weeks ago. Eager to do more. Vermont is the best, in my experience, for freehiking but willing to explore other areas. My schedule is full through July but August is another month. Suggestions are welcome. My schedule is flexible with the days that generally don't work for me being Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.
I have tried the nude solo hike a few times, it can be disconcerting at times. When you see another hiker who is fully clothed you don't want him or her to think you're some kind of freak, so you quickly grab for the shorts. Hiking nude in a small group is more relaxing to me.i don't worry about covering up when the whole group is naked It would be nice to get at least 5 or 6 people together. Vermont seems to be the logical place for a nude hike
The situation about the lone, male, naked hiker being perceived as a freak or a pervert is real. However, I have learned that scrambling for shorts (had a funny - in retrospect only - occurance once) is not worth the effort. In Vermont, it is generally accepted and I just go with it ("You be you" one female AT throughhiker told me when we passed during my last hike). The reactions I get range from averted eyes to a simple "hello" to a short chat as if I was clothed to overt encouragement.
That said, I also would prefer to hike in a group. As noted, the days that work for me, in general, are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. More notice is better for me to plan.
Unfortunately, Sunday the 27th, doesn't work for me, partly because I have an overseas trip planned.
