As a nudist, I can definitely relate to your thoughts. Personally, whenever I *have* to wear swimwear, I lean toward the minimal side, something that feels closest to being free, like briefs. Theyre not perfect, but at least they dont drown me in fabric.
Board shorts are comfortable in their own way, but for me, they feel like Im carrying half a towel around, and it takes away from that natural connection with the sun and water that I enjoy so much about swimming nude. At the end of the day, nothing really compares to the simple, unrestricted freedom of swimming without anything at all.
But when the situation calls for it, Ill always choose the option that reminds me most of that freedom.

Have you ever tried tan through swimsuits? Lighter weight, dry faster and less restrictive.
It has been many years since I went swimming anywhere I needed to wear a swimsuit. At that time I wore a thin pair of mesh lined shorts that went to my mid-thigh. They kept everything covered, were very light, and required no extra underwear. When I was much younger I wore a speedo and loved it.
