What is normal anyway?

I see this in profiles all the time so what I really want to know
is what sets the standard for "normal"? I think the best
definition of normal is a setting on a washing machine.

"normal" is simply what you're accustomed to. So everyone's standard for "normal" is unique to themselves as individuals. If they limit themselves to only what they're accustomed then everything else is not normal.

Keep in mind that to some people nudism isn't "normal". . . . . . . . . .

Yes what is normal, even if according the definition on the setting of a washing machine or an iron when there is a defect it's not normal. In nature out there, nothing happens as per normal, as things all happen when they are ready and conditions prove to be right and than again some abnormality in weather pattern can overthrow it all. Even when I do things different, to what I used to, or if I think different about thing just overnight or from one moment to the next. There is no normality present, as I'm an individual who doesn't think the same way like others do and or handle the same tools the same way anyone else would. Our whole makeup is so complex and diverse, that it doesn't allow for the term normal to apply to each other. I'm a left hand writer but ambidextrous otherwise, however this was classified abnormal in earlier days. I was classified as a left-hander all over and already had committed a sin 25 times according to the bible. Perhaps it was more normal to be accused, than what the nature of the fact contained. It has become normal, to be ridiculed by being classified as abnormal, accusers not knowing about their own abnormal traits.

Normal is having the same fears and misconceptions as your neighbors. The problem is they won't tell you what that means, at the risk of not appearing normal.
