temperature
With the help of Google books I recently read an old Popular Mechanics article where they were "scientifically" evaluating the beneficial claims of nudity. They concluded that nudism can only be practiced in climates where the temperature never gets below 83 degrees F. Who agrees?

I hope not! I live in the Midwest and if I have to crank up the heat in the winter I will lol

we'd be stuffed in Uk if that was the case - rarely gets up that high

Switzerland allows average temp of around 70F / 22C and that is very much ok. If sun is out and not windy than I stay nude with less than that, easily.

In Canada the Temps vary alot. So we just deal with what we get. I've sat nude outside in 50f quite comfortably as long as the winds stay calm.

For us at this side of the pond 83 deg F is about 30 deg C. We'd never find that heat in the UK and not often inSouthern Europe. For me 21 deg C (70 deg F) is comfortable. My house is maintained at that temperature for naked comfort. And I've been comfortable outside in lower temperatures - as long as the sun is shining and I'm sheltered from the wind. I've hiked naked in such temperatures without the sun. The activity keeps me warm.

Like Olly, I find no problems practising nudism in countries where the temperature never reaches 80F so I have no idea what the perpetrator of that myth was possibly thinking about.

If that was the case, I would never be nude. Very few days in Seattle at or above 80-deg-F.

I have to disagree I also live in the Midwest and am naked as much as possible

Textile season in Florida is very short: today we reached 90-92F in
north Orlando, FL: even in AC it is tough to keep anything on the
skin. Nevertheless, my first skinny dips were in the Michigan
summer months in the 1970's. Naked sauna's and Jacuzzis' in the winter make sense: I like some chill in the air when walking, and naked walking not much far removed, when you consider walking as one of the essentials to survival (food, locomotion, reproduction) of the species. I would think the range of temperatures for which a human can tolerate nakedness is somewhat lower than 83 F. Wild

We all know what the UK weather is like but it never stops me going naked.
