Having n ever ben to a clothing optional beach before my first time did not go as planned. I felt if other people were nude it would be easy for my first time to be naked on a clothing optional beach. Actually this beach is noted as a nude beach, not clothing optional. It is Little Tribune Bay on Hornby Island. I arrived with my painting kit thinking I'd paint nude. What I noticed was there were no naked people. I found a spot to sketch from and as the time passed saw people only removed their clothing to go swimming. When they got out they quickly got dressed. I did not feel comfortable at all to take my clothes off and after finishing three sketches left feeling cheated of what was to be my first social nude beach experience. As I live a long ways away from any other nude beach I haven't ventured out to try again. I remain a home nudist and forest trail walker.
Little Trib is a great place to get naked, you must have hit it on an off day
I was lucky in that my very first experience of a nude beach was
one where virtually everyone was naked. I actually felt uneasy
until I stripped off myself, something which I did very quickly. It
is useful to know the etiquette for each beach. There is a cluster
of clothes optional beaches in the far western Algarve (Portugal).
On some the nudist area is at the far end of the beach, so I walk
to that end before getting naked. On others the nudists are spread
throughout the beach and I get naked on entering the beach,
sometimes beforehand. And all these nude areas/beaches have
textiles on them as well. They may be surfers or a surfing school.
I enjoy being naked in front of them - asserting my right to be
naked. They are genuinely Clothes
Optional. That is no bad thing. It allows a couple to enjoy the
beach when one is nude and the other clothed. It also allows
hesitant nudists to get naked in their own time. Both those
are good for encouraging new nudists.
My friends and I are often the first or the only nudists on the
beach. I'm comfortable with that. The textiles accept our nudity
and we accept them being clothed. I must have been nude on beaches
100's of times now and have only ever had one bad reaction.
Incidentally textiles can get a bad reaction too. The beach at Cap
d'Agde is totally nude. The geography makes it impossible to access
most of the beach except through the nudist village. The exception
is at the sexy end if the beach which connects to a textile
beach.But anyone daring to enter in any clothing will be
driven off by the men and forcibly stripped by the women. Contrast
this with the nude beach at Maspalomas. It has a continual parade
of clothed beach-goers along the water's edge.
I would be completely comfortable being the only person totally nude at a clothing optional beach. After all people who go to clothing optional beaches should expect to see nudists. So I wouldn't let them interfere with my right to enjoy being nude. Also there are always a fair number of people who stay clothed so it's not unusual. Some may be gawkers or curious, but some may be trying to work up the nerve to undress. Some women may eventually remove their tops and nothing more,but it's a start. So I feel I'm setting an example by showing that nudity is normal and exposing my naked body to clothed people is no big deal.
