Groups with no active moderators.
Do other people have problems where a group checks anybody before they are allowed to join a group which I think is a good idea to stop the spammers/fake profiles joining but in cases like "KEEP THE BODY HAIR" which I want to join the mod hasn't been on this site sense 23/08/2015 which is as good as killing the group off.should all groups have at least two mods to keep them going and stop this happening.
There are numerous groups where the moderator(s) have left and the members can't do anything to transfer control to a currently active member. I'd like to see a policy where if a group moderator does not visit the group for 90 days the moderation is opened up to the members, or a policy where the members could petition to have the moderation transferred.
I very much like the groups as they give people with shared interests a place to have focused conversations. But their management could use some tweaking.

Yes, it's happened to me and others many times. The only solution is to contact TT2 and ask her to allow you to take over a group. They will usually say "yes," BUT ... instead of making you a moderator of that group, they might tell you to just start a new group. I've had to do that twice! What I then did was to post a thread in the existing group that I had started a new group and many of the active members that still visited that group left that group and joined my new group.
There are far too many duplicate groups here but if you're interested in a particular issue and want a group to discuss those issues, then I say ... start your own group with a similar name and tell everyone about your new group.
I also agree there are too many dormant groups with absent moderator and that there are too many duplicate/redundant groups. That does not help the cause.
TT2 has allowed me to take over such a group but then a year later denied the request for another. I encourage you to reach out to TT2 and ask. I also encourage the owners to at least allow us to do what we can to keep this site useful.
