WHAT I WOULD LIKE TO SEE
Is a case taken before the Supreme Court ( USA) that proves once and for all that no one has ever been in any way shape or form harmed by seeing another person of either sex naked. Since the Court has handed down judgements that impact marriage etc, why not have one that says " that person is naked , deal with it"
Thoughts?

Can you outline the case for those of us outside the US?
I wish the Supreme Court worked that way, but it doesn't. Someone would likely need to fight a local or State ruling or case in which they feel that their Constitutional rights were somehow violated by a law or a charge against them. There is no Federal law against nudity. Laws and prohibitions against it come from State and local laws and ordinances. Who would have standing to bring it before SCOTUS? I suppose one could argue that State laws violate our constitutional rights, but the argument on the other side would be that you do have a the right to be nude, but not in public unless the public accepts it. Any city or town could pass laws that make nudity legal in their community. If someone were to challenge that law, and say that it violates their right NOT to see people naked, even the lowest court would probably throw that out, because they would have to prove harm to have standing.
So the answer is; Change the Law. What we really need is for someone to put up a ballot measure to vote for nude beaches or nude liberty in public, and let the people vote. If, somehow it passed, and the State challenged it, then perhaps it could end up before SCOTUS. Probably never happen, because the public doesn't really want freedom, since they're too stupid to handle it anyway.

Thank you for e very informative post,
The question remains; how does a referendum to change
existing law make it to the ballot?
Since it is unlikely that any legislator would propose legalizing public
nudity, a petition is probably the only answer. I have signed several petitions
to designate local beaches, clothing optional. These online petitions usually die in their tracks after
receiving a couple hundred or less signatures. Why do these petitions fail?
They are posted online by some well meaning nudist who
believes in The Field of Dreams adage
that Build it and they will come .Unfortunately, in the real world, it
does not work that way. Much of the fault lies with the nudists, themselves. Many of
those that were aware of the petitions did not sign for fear that their secret
lifestyle would be exposed. How can we expect the general public to support
nudism when the nudists treat it as a shameful activity which must remain
hidden?
To have any chance
of success, it would be necessary for the nudists to go public and support the
lifestyle which they have chosen. To back up any online petition it would be
necessary to solicit signatures in the malls, the collages, sporting events
and elsewhere .
The national nudist organizations should be contacted and asked
to target the local are with a public relations blitz. Local nudists should
begin a letter writing campaign ,
contacting local TV, radio, newspapers
and periodicals with good valid reasons why the petition should be supported.
The following is the body to a letter
which I submitted to the editorial department of our local news channel. More
nudists must lobby the local media to educate the public and lawmakers in
regard to nudism. If a large number of individuals came out defending the
lifestyle, we might make some headway. I have always been very public about my
nudism and have never suffered any ill results.
I have watched and enjoyed your interesting and
informative editorials. It occurred to me that Nacations would be an
interesting, though somewhat controversial subject for an upcoming editorial.
One of the greatest joys in my life is skinny dipping in the ocean. Last
December a companion and I booked a trip to Couples, Negril, Jamaica. This
location was chosen because a nude beach was available. The total expense for
this trip was in excess of $ 3000.00. Had there been such a beach, locally,
last summer, we would probably have foregone this trip and the money would
likely to have been spent locally. While, not everyone can make such a such
trip, there are many that do. When will the public officials wake up to the
fact, that designating a few small areas where the nudity laws are not enforced
could be a boon thelocal economy?
It has been estimated that Haulover Beach, which is located within the
city limits of Miami, Fl, the only legally sanctioned clothing optional beach
in the state of Florida, generates several million dollars in additional
tourist revenue each year. Can the Grand Strand continue to ignore this
economic opportunity?
While it would be a lengthy and costly process to change State law to
accommodate such a beach, small areas could be administratively designated as non-enforced.
This is done in several areas throughout the country
There is a wealth of information on the internet regarding
Nacastions and clothing optional beaches. If I can be of help, in any way,
please feel free to contact me by phone or e-mail.
