Group membership status
In my profiles group list an increasing number of groups there don't show a thumbnail of their homepage photo, there is a black outline around a white space where the photo was shown previously. I have been a member of some of these groups for a while, some include messages that I've posted previously, groups that you need approval to join. I still get notifications in my updates when there has been new activity in the groups.
Yet when I try to respond on a thread I get a message stating that I need to be a member of that group to post there. I am a member, I have been for a few years in some cases. Its wasting my time when I want to participate by adding to the thread, I spend time typing a response and then I get the 'you need to be a member...' message.
Do others here have the same issues?
It used to be a few groups where this was the case, its now about 20-25 of the ones that I am a member of.
Is this another example of things on TN that don't work and are not being fixed?
I'm also a member of many groups but seem to only respond on those
where there is a new post or topic. I've not had a problem with
those but I haven't tried to post in groups where I haven't in
quite some time or where there's ben zero activity in a long, long
time. I'll check and see if I have any of the issues you're having
but I haven't encountered any thus far.

I just posted in a group that hadn't seen activity in quite some time with the same group avatar/picture you described. I was able to post a response to a thread without any issues.

Nik, try this to see what you get. Get on to one of your group home pages and look down the left column and see if you see "Join Group" or "Leave Group". If it says leave group, then it still should be recognizing you as a member, if it says join group, then it is not. Also go to athread you have posted to and find your post, then click on your image to view your profile like you would anyone else's to find out about them. Then go see what is on your group listing. This may give you some idea about your group member status.
Thanks for the responses, I've tried the suggestions and am still getting the same outcomes as before with the blank square groups. Most are groups which have not had any recent activity, its as if there's some sort of move afoot to get rid of inactive groups.
What is odd is that the number of blank square groups in my list has gone down since I posted this yesterday, someone somewhere may have taken notice of the issue. It is 14 out of 100 groups that I get the blank square now.
