It all seems to depend on some variable in human types and conditions. Everyone has to experiment and learn what they can take. I have never used lotion and never had a burn on the glans even with all day in the sun, like riding a tractor, the rest of me tans very slowly with lots of sun. If I wait too long to get exposed in the spring, and then suddenly spend too long, I can get a sun burn, but it's only a bit sore and goes away in 3-4 days, may peel one layer of skin, otherwise harmless. But no more of waiting too late. I'm spending all the time I can out working my backwoods gardens nude this year. Yesterday was nice, I cut sapling and tilled fresh ground for half a day nude in the sun. wanted a little rest and laid down in the sun to soak up a little more at a different angle.

It seems the closer to the equator your ancestral genes were forged the more you can tolerate the sun. My wife's genes came from Italy. She can lay in the sun for hours and not burn. My genes came from Ireland, Germany and Norway. I can get a sun burn walking across a parking lot.
