Travelling with a dog NSW?
Hi trend setters :-)
I'll be travelling from QLD with the Mrs through NSW in November. It's a road trip, so our plan is to lodge at a place for a day or two, then get back on the road again.
Our holiday doesn't have a specific plan or destination in mind currently, but we have a small well trained/behaved dog AND would also like to partake in a bit of recreational nudism.
I've not recently attended any venues since I've had a dog, but from my searching its rather apparent that the nudist lifestyle and dogs don't seem to go hand in hand (maybe its a dog's tendency to jump and bite at dangling toys? lol).
Just wanting to touch base with others who might have done this before, or have some bright ideas on venues? (And no, putting the dog in a kennel isn't an option!).

Will love to hear results, an traveling up to Qld in December with 2 dogs and am also looking for places to stay. Have been before with 1 dog, there is a dog friendly place in Parkes and also a caravan park in Dubbo, I also have rented a cottage at Tenterfield (Thor Cottage) have heard there is a dog and nudist friendly camping ground near Dubbo, but haven't got particulars as yet. All the best in your search
I'm a dog owner now, but haven't travelled much in NSW with a dog. I know a couple in QLD that are ok with mine, butgenerally speaking prefer a no dog policy.
What's your destination?
Are you planning on taking the coast or inland route?
After deciding which route, it's always best to simply ring the venue hosts and ask... some allow and some don't.
Many venues that previously allow, many not necessarily allow now.
Would also depend on how well behaved you dog is with other dogs and how much our dog barks. Most owners don't want other guests annoyed.
Suggest when speaking to venues you tell them how well behaved your dog is, whether it's dog and people friendly and how much it barks. Also that you're willing to have it tethered at all times 'if necessary' and will clean up after it (pick up it's poop).
I know the residents at Running bar in Narrabri have dogs, but don't know if guests are allowed to bring theirs.
Don't bother contacting River Island, they're a defiant NO.
I think the smaller venues are probably more likely to say yes, than the larger ones.
Hi everyone,
Thanks for the responses :-)
Yes travelling with a dog is hard work - I did a VicQld trip 2 years ago and it took months of planning to secure nightly stops where we could have the pooch. What a PITA! Add to that the desire to be clothes free and I think I've made the impossible request :-D
Travelling in a 4WD. We can camp if necessary but would prefer to leave the gear home if possible.
Re: destinations and routes, I've deliberately kept the options open - we were initially heading towards the Blue Mountains but this could be inland or coastal. Basically, if an awesome place pops up that will take dogs, then we'll go out of our way to go via there. I'm actually so flexible on this point, I could even possibly not do NSW at all and travel north from Brissy IF the right place popped up. (But then this post would be off topic, and we don't want that LOL!)
Thanks for the advice Em re: calling the venues, yes its quite possible you might talk someone into it. Thats actually happened to me before with textile places. Thanks for the prompt.
Sounds like there's a decent business opportunity here for a pet friendly nudist venue......happens to be a long term retirement plan I'm thinking about for my property in the Bellingen/Coffs Harbour area.Still got my work life & need for income stopping my start but would love tohear if others think I'm onto something???And....what would be the expectations for facilities?I canalready offer great climate, location, scenery, etc.....working on budget creature comfort necessities.Bern:)
Hi there. You could try Wrenbrook Retreat which is about an hour west of Casino in Northern NSW. They have a farm like venue there with a resident dog. We have also seen other dogs there. They have powered and unpowered sites as well as cabins and on-site vans.
Hi, I'm a farmer in central NSW running a mixed farm of 1600 ac, i have also started to host campers and travelers with caravans on my farm. I have a camping area on the farm of about 20 ac that is very private, lots of shade and next to a large dam. Visitors can stay with pets if they keep them under control. This is a fully working farm with Sheep, goats and Alpacas, I will not be happy if your dogs upset my livestock. Access is very good most times, not at the moment when we have a once in 100 year flood happening but that will pass shortly. I'm not a naturist only camping area but I do enjoy have naturist stay here. You can have a private spot or mix with other campers if any other campers are here at that time. Most of the time you will have the campsite to yourself. I do close the campsite at busy times on the farm so please check before dropping in.
The farm is located in the Riverina, 120km north of Narrandera if your traveling from the South, 19 km North of the Mid Western Hwy at Weethalle. It's a great spot to base yourself and check out the area or just chill out for a few days and work on the tan. The farm is called Yarran Park you will find my website I'm also on Wikicamps and Youcamp or call me direct.
Any more information please ask.
Keith
You guys rock! :-) Thanks for the tips.
We ended up planning a run down the east coast, ending in the Blue Mtns not further south than Syd. No clothing free stays this time, I'm afraid :-(
@Bernme, having recently returned from Europe, I'm longing for the convenience of going for a skinny dip within 30 mins of where I live! But Brisbane has a complete derth of options :-( I guess thats for a reason - if nudist venues made money, there would be more, and competition would leave to improved quality. I'm afraid Aussies just don't have the mindset in large enough numbers. I think most venues dip the toe and never get past a caravan or a rough leaky cabin.
But you would certainly be playing to a captive market - who else offers pet friendly, pants down getaways? Nudists own pets too! :-)
@happybares, thanks for the tip. I'll check it out.
@farmboy1 Wow, you're ages away from where we ended up planning to go. But sounds like a cool camping opportunity. So basically just arrange with you, and you can send us to a private area? Yeah, dog is real well behaved.
Thanks everyone.J
Hey mate.....thanks for the return comments....it restores some confidence in the Aussie nudist/naturist lifestyle. My idea is very much just an idea due mainly to my current profession.
I'm definitely getting a positive feel that my humble retirement plan is workable in my idealic location....nothing high brow or "resort" style but definitely a quiet place to pitch a tent or park a van with the beautifulplace to yourself & a genuine naturist/nudist host to leave you in peace or share the local experiences together at your discretion.
More than happy to swap notes if you & your travelling team are in the Bellingen/Coffs area & in need of a patch of grass to rest in your travels.
I recently lost my brilliant little old pooch but haven't got to replacing her yet.....I'm definitely a pooch friendly nudist:)
