RE: Nudism-RIP

So true about the TN situation. I was thrilled when Donna & Danny decided to reopen Cherokee as a genuine nudist park. That place is pure relaxation.

There is also a park in the SC upstate that has its issues. Happily Travelites (my club) has lots to do and great places to visit and very shortly, we'll have a pool and bunkhouse to add to the amenities here

Just in case you didn't know about this article: https://www.nudistday.com/article/where-are-the-young-nudists.html.
I read the article with interest. It confirms the idea which I have had that the young have no problem with being nude. They do, however, have the idea that to be enjoyable life must move at the pace of Grand Theft Auto.
Is there any way for resorts to attract the faster paced generation? First, involve the young in formulating ideas on how to attract their age group. The input may be surprising. It may run the gambit from installing Wi-Fi, a video game arcade, trusting them to use cell phones for texting not pictures, a dance contest on the pool deck, A Nintendo WII competition to something as simple as an open area to toss a football around.
This is far afield from the original idea that nudist must speak out and more aptly belongs in aAttracting Youthful Nudists thread. Then again, if the young spend a day at a resort and have a wonderful time, are they not more likely to share this with their peer group than are those with an established social or professionlife?

RE: Nudism-RIP

I think the point I'm trying to make without picking nits, is that AANR doesn't represent nudists or nudism. Only members. TNS, represents all naturists through the NAC whether they're members or not.
Yes, only AANR members. Approximately 50,000 NUDISTS. Approximately 265 NUDIST Clubs and NUDIST Resorts.

NAC is a separate arm and doesn't share TNS membership records. NAC is the arm that helps when issues are at hand. Bob Morton, Exec. Dir., does a good job but Nicky, Judi, Debbie, etc. are the TNS backbone.

RE: Nudism-RIP

coming from a younger one, i believe resorts and clubs could do things that would make nudism seem more inviting to a younger generation. However, I say that our biggist problem is the many misconceptions that textile people put on nudisim. I dont think we have to reach out to the people that are closet nudist, i feel we have to reach out to the people that think nudisim is wrong and shamefull. If we can make them understand that there is nothing wrong with it, perhaps they wouldnt raise their children the way they are being raised now. Maybe kids wouldnt be affraid to go to a resort for fear of someone they know finding out and thinking they are "lude". If they realized that no one cared or would think negatively of them i firmly believe this would change things alot. I personally do not care what people think because this is the life i have chosen and enjoy. I am constantly drilled with questions about nudisim and i do my best to give straight forward answers that represent all of us well. my two cents.

RE: Nudism-RIP

I think working to appeal to the interests and activities of the younger generations is a start, but I think they must also be convinced of the authenticity of thenudist life. The twenty-something woman is accustomed to being objectifed and reduced to a centerfold. What is she going to think when she is asked to come get naked at a club? Especially when so many "nudist" sites include profiles with images of women spread out on beds, or when clubs have lingerie dances? For every positive, authentic example of nudism, there are ten negative, inaccurate distortions.Additionally, I think there are specific personality types that find nudism appealing. Most sixty year-olds think it's ridiculous, as do most twenty year-olds. "You like video games, we got video games!" might be just as ineffective in attracting young people as "You like shuffleboard, we got shuffleboard!" is in attracting retirees. Having a variety of activities helps, but so does saying the right words to the right people.

I cannot agree more, that it does no good to provide activities for those that are not going to show up and use them. On the other hand, its not practical to waste resources recruiting new visitors, of any age, unless they find something that they like and are inclined to return.
I have stated elsewhere on this Forum that AANRs Guinness World Record Skinny Dip is the best public relations effort which I have see in my many years as a nudist. I have personally attended both of these events at the Whispering Pines Nudist Resort and it was obvious from the tan lines or the lack of any tan that many were not nudists but there only for the open house skinny dip.
Thanks to the well organized, friendly staff and volunteers, it appeared that everyone had a wonderful time.
It is unlikely that these cottontail nudists would have been there were it not for the well publicized event but its is likely that those who had an enjoyable day may return as the nudists of the future

Nudism - RIP

Perhaps Nudism attracts an older audience for the same reason it almost always has. Older people do not have kids and in our society nudism and children is a difficult subject for many to bridge. Yes, it would perhaps be healthier if we could help kids have a better understanding of the humanbody in healthier ways. But most young people with kids simply aren't equipped to do it. That means more older people at resorts. Many of todays young parents may find their way to nude venues as their kids age as well. To change this we need to change the general impressions that most of the population has about nudism. But I doubt nudism is in trouble in a permanent way.

RE: Progressive direction in South Australia

if we can not change we will die out. the younger generation have been born into a free world and can find more place to Hang out nude without going to clubs and resorts.
Also there is the stigma of Sex that can and does scare the young people off. Some think that you will fall pry to use older ones but education must be the key. For education is a two way street we must learn what the younger generation want and adapt accordingly

Is it any wonder it "could" die out???!
Those like me, are caught between the "predators" & people who are of the "swinger/exhibitionist" tendency, OR you have the Christian mafia on the other side. BOTH side want to push THEIR weirdo beliefs onto the rest of us, & we have BOTH kinds on this very website. Which is EXACTLY why I cancelled my recurring membership. It was called "platinum" but you get EVERYTHING & more for free on here, unlike most other supposedly "nudist/naturist" web-sites I have ever been a short term member of.
Until we can kick BOTH the Religious nutters AND the Predators out of naturism, I will continue to be a "loner" type naturist, I am not one for the "up themselves" types who run nudist clubs so will make my own friends as and where I can, and continue to live by my own naturist belief system.

No wonder young people do not want to join in the established nudist groups. The constant wingeing, complaining, use of exagerated names and continual moanin on this site is enough to put any sensible youg person off

Where has the joy of nudism/naturism gone. Wake up guys and gals
