Naked Island (Passage Key) Accessible by Kayak

For anyone who is interested in going to Naked Island (Passage Key) if you launch off the north/west point of Anna Marie Island, it's definitely attainable by Kayak. Make sure it's a clear day with little wind to make the journey safer. It takes about 30 minutes to paddle to the island by Kayak and as soon as you arrive you're greeted by sandy white beaches, turquoise waters and bare bums on and off their boats... I comfortably enjoyed the whole day on the island completely naked surrounded by other nudists.

A true MUST DO for the nudist adventurer!!!

BTW - any other nudist kayaker wanting to venture to the island, let me know, I'm always looking for an excuse to head back to Naked Island and making new nudist friends along the way.

I've always wanted to go. I've heard that law enforcement wont bother people in the water, but the island is protected and they wont allow you to get on the island itself. Is this true?

Several nudists, including myself spent the whole day on the beach with no issues, as long as you're close to the waters edge, you can comfortably enjoy the beach, you just have to avoid the vegetation and birds nesting on the island.

Yes, that is true that the law enforcement is more concerned about the wildlife than what the humans are wearing. People know that if they go to that island, they will most likely be around naked people even if they don't go nude. I have spent many days totally nude with no issues. I do try to be away from those who want to stay in clothing but sometimes it's unavoidable. Once, I came across this lady and stated to her that I really did try to avoid her and she replied, "It's no big deal....I've seen it out here before." So, you will have no issues being nude at Passage Key. It has become my favorite "island". I usually launch from southern Pinellas County and can get there in 30 minutes. It's not really advisable to get there by kayak unless you are a professional and plan an entire day to do it.

I completely agree, make sure you're an accomplished Kayaker before attempting to access the island launching from Pinellas County, I personally have never launched from there, but visially the distance seems to be much further and subject to rougher Gulf water conditions. For a notice Kayaker, launching from Anna Marie island is much more attainable and safer, paddling over relatively shallow waters for most of the way, but I would still caution to only attempt it on a day with calm weather conditions.

See you on the island... :-)
