I agree to a point. I am as eager as the next nudist to distinguish to the wider society the differenc between nudism/naturism and sex.
Having said that, I think the simplest way of defining nudism/naturism or one of a few ways, is that nudism/naturism is living life, even if only for two weeks in spain, naked. You do all the things that you would do in a textile place, except you do it nude. You eat, drink, socialise, exercise, relax etc, all in the buff.
Bearing that in mind, what if one of the things which I do in my everyday life is exercise my interest in my sexual pursuits. That is not say I have sex in social settings, but I would be open to meeting someone else with similar interests. Is it there not acceptable for me to expect that there might be nudists/naturists too, who share my interest in sex ? I'm sure there are nudists gardeners who like to meet and chat to other nudist gardeners !
I hope this makes sense.
To some degree, gender and sexual orientation are part of our make-up, and this will affect how we deal with others and how they deal with us. I don't know about women, but I know some men who will censor themselves when women are around, or at least within hearing range. It's not that they can't be polite. They just like to let loose every now and then, and they may not feel comfortable doing that when women are around.
Something similar could be at play with people of different orientations. Women who like tojoke that all the best men are either married or gay may think twice about saying that if a known gay man is around. It's sort of like toning down the criticism of Israel's government if someone in the group is of Jewish descent, or being a little more circumspect when discussing terrorism in the world if one of your number happens to be Muslim. And if you're a confirmed evolutionist, there's the outside chance you don't want to offend the neighbourhood creationist.
NONE OF THIS SHOULD MATTER. But it does.
Nakednlouisville seems to have a problem, he feels since he is gay that everyone is out to get him. He doesn't seem to understand that people could care less, unless he forces himself on someone or is out to get attention because he is gay. What you do is your business. I could care less if it is a man, woman or animal. Quit reading things into what people write on here and just read the words without reading between the lines.
Hello,Im Frankie in Tucson,Interesting issue here.My personal comment on this is,I really dont care about peoples Sexual preference here. This doesnt bother me about Sexual orintation. Were all Human and our sexual preference is our right.
In this day and age it's kind of inexcusable, but some people still don't like to associate with those of a different sexual preference. It's sort of, in my eyes, a way to get to know people before you try to befriend them. I'm sure a lot of g/l/b/tg'ers know how annoying/rude/upsetting/saddening it can be to lose a potential friend simply because they don't agree with your lifestyle. So in one respect it might help to make better and more solid friendships by being open and honest with one another, and at the same time helping to avoid those people who haven't caught up with our more accepting times.
On the other hand, we do have a lot of single nudists here on TN who I am sure would love to have a nudist partner. True that TN shouldn't be used as a cyber or camsex website but what's the problem with people who might want to find a date for saturday? :) Again, it's all about being honest. If you think it's unneeded, maybe you're a little scared to be public with your preference, or maybe you plain just don't want people to know, then there's always the option of not checking that little box. But that's already been covered.
Why is it there ?
Because advertising works !
The most popular internet web sites ( not counting google ) are social networking sites.
Opening this site up some-what to social networking makes this site more popular.
Allowing members to find each other makes this site both more useful and more popular, ergo more successful.
If I am a single guy, and I'm open to a relationship, it makes sense to have in/on the profile the criteria a potential partner might like as part of their screening process.
I'm not bi, and I'm not gay, so a "date" prospect for either I'm not.
How does that automatically say that I'm not open to a non-romantic friendship with either ? Or couples ? Or women too ?
It doesn't, but it DOES increase my chances of running across a compatible partner, by accident or design, in yet another place.
It does not mean that my purpose in being here is limited to finding a date, but it also says it's not totally out of the question, either.
Why is this so hard for a few to grasp ?
Funny thing, what I enjoy most about social nudism is the removal of classes and labels. Everyone is somehow equal once the things that set us apart have been romoved. But, in a non face to face environment like the internet, labels are neccesary to establish a starting point. If you want people to start with next to no knowledge of you, leave your profile blank. Myself, I perfer people to know a bit about me so that I can avoid contact with people who in the end will want nothing to do with me.
