Me and the water and the stars

Does anyone else find that encounters in the world of nature facilitate awakening and awareness? I am drawn there in ways I cant articulate. This world of plastic and concrete and steel and glass is too much with us. There is something restorative about the world of trees and grass and soil and sky and water. I recently visited a natural wilderness hot springs at midnight and had the place to myself. It was just me and the water and the stars. This was a profound and memorable experience. I like to think it was also transcendent and transformational but I cant really explain how that worked.

Do we expect our spiritual encounters to occur within the four walls of a church? This was not always the case. Abraham had his under the stars, and Moses and Jacob and Jesus and Paul and so many others had theirs in the wilderness, on the road, by the seashore, etc.
