North Coast to Sydney: where's the best NSW location?

Hi gang,

The Mrs, the pooch and I will be coming down from Queensland for our annual trip in October. The Mrs has only last year joined me properly in the clothes-free lifestyle.

We're looking for good recommendations for safe, non-creepy places to catch some sun. My lovely wife is still a bit skittish about the creepers and I must admit I'm none too keen to end up on some internet video. Having the dog along means we will at least need somewhere to keep an eye on her (eg, in the 4WD windows down if its a beach, or tied up in the shade if its a venue).

We might go further south than Sydney for the right location.

Last time we discovered Kiata Country Club and loved it. We'll be back this year.

Where do you recommend?

OK more on the above: I have figured that either Samurai Beach or Birdie Beach are worth a look. We'll be passing both on the Pacific Highway.

Which is better?

Some details to help:
We have a 4WD.
We can camp and would be interested in this if safe.
We'll have a well behaved dog with us - this would stop us using National Parks. But the dog can stay inside the car if needed. Any tips?
The little lady is uncool with the peepers and creepers and I don't want to frighten her off in her second year - I'd appreciate knowing if one location is worse than the other.

Would love any NSW local advice on any location, really. QLD border down to Sydney and maybe a bit beyond.

Birdie Beach is a must see

I'd recommend Samurai as there's a separate section for camping up the end of the beach and usually several nude campers go there. The fishing is good and at night its quiet & peaceful.

Weeee, there's life in these boards yet! :-D

Thanks guys - we have 1 vote for each. We actually did think about the camping thing.

We ended up booking a couple of nights at Gypsy Falls and we are interested in check out one of these beaches at least. It might come down to convenience. The peaceful post-sun fishing sounds nice. :-)
