Travelites' Chinese New Year event report & upcoming

This year's Travelites' Chinese New Year (Year of the Ox) celebration was enhanced by a USC journalism student in attendance joining those from Ridgeway, Gaston, Orangeburg, Hopkins, and Columbia. The interview with those members who arrived early to meet with Ellen went so smoothly that she shed her clothes and joined right in. Her article should appear in the May issue of the "Garnet & Black," a quarterly publication of USC.
The variety of foods was fantastic and included several homemade dips plus phenomenal entree's such as baked duck, Dragon triplet, spareribs, shrimp and Chinese vegetables, pork fried rice, oriental chicken wings, and egg rolls. Additionally, the desserts were
indescribably delicious from the Chinese apple crisp to the blueberry cheese cake and the premium ice cream and expected fortune cookies. Everyone received a commemorative plush bear (or is that bare). The weather cleared up making it very easy to relax in the hot tub.
February 14th will be the club's Mardi Gras and Valentine partyin southeast Richland Countyand February 28th will be an oyster Roastin Ridgeway. The cost for the oysters will be $8 per person. If you don't want oysters, there will be other food such as pasta Alfredo and
whatever attendees bring.
