Where does a nudist "pack" his protection from wild animals ...

On another site I'm on, a hiking thread drifted into some of the nudist hikers talking about "packing" a side arm for protection from large wild animals. Just wondering for those of us that don't hike in the Yukon and encounter Grizzlies, do any of you pack a hand gun for any of your hikes in more remote areas?

In our more remote areas, we'd have to be concerned with Mountain Lion and on rare occasion, a Brown Bear or Bare! :D

No experience. But if I were to feel the need, it would go in a side pocket of my backpack.

Wear a "fanny pack" twisted around to the front or side and carry it there. My sidearm of choice for this purpose is a Bond Arms double barrel derringer with a .410 shotshell in one barrel for snakes and a .45 Colt solid in the other barrel for mammals (including human threats). I carry 2 extra rounds of each type in a leather carrier also in the fanny pack. Frankly, my two main concerns are snakes and other humans.

hahahahaha ... I guess that's the only reason I'd wear a fanny pack nowadays, but that's better than wearing a holster or inside a backpack where I'd have to search for it and get eaten before I could get it out! hahahaha

I'd probably go look for a backpack with a side pocket large enough for the pistol I purchase. But I like the fanny pack idea.

Anytime I see anyone wearing a fanny pack I first think they are "packing".
Nobody I know wears a fanny pack without a pistol in it.

Your best protection from wild animals is that thing between your ears. A firearm gives a false sense of security. Nothing short of a 12ga slug at close range will stop a charging bear and only if youre calm enough to hit the right place. If you have to carry to protect yourself from two legged animals, I suggest you find a different place to hike. (Backpacker for nearly 50 years and former competitive shooter/hunter)

I live in the desert in Arizona. When I hike nude, I always have a small back back with water, sunblock and shorts I can quickly slip on. I also keep my S&W 40 pistol in the pack.

I dont own a hand gun but have considered buying one simply for remote hiking. I hike with a camel pack so it would need to go in there because typically I have no pockets. But I have seen some really cool tactical sling backpacks that are designed to sling from your back to your front and a easy to get to pocket for a weapon. Thats what I would do. I just cant bring myself to where a fanny pack. I already look funny nude.

I always hike in my backpack and have a pocketknife just in case but luckily never had to pull it out. Only seen snakes but I just go around them, when I see them.
