New Gym Member

I'm not sure if I could describe myself as a " Gym Lover ! however I recently joined a gym and have been doing various classes depending on my shifts , I have wanted to lose weight and tone, up , I have found a couple of the classes hard work and don't want to quit so I thought that joining this group might male me feel more positive about going to the gym rather than finding it a chore, any tips on how to achieve my goals and enjoying working out at the same time would be really appreciated

Good for you! There are so many things to do at those gyms and especially if there are classes. Doing it socially can help a lot. Whether you are doing a class or going it solo just keep going. Vary your workouts. Don't let yourself get into a routine. Keep your body confused on what it is you are going to do.

Thanks to both of you for your advice, it makes a lot of sense, I am doing various classes, as I work shifts so can't always ge to the same class 2 weeks in a row, so far I've done, Boxercise, core strength , boxfit, ( which is different from boxercise, sessions tend to last 30-45 mins, Once I feel that I'm not getting as tired and aching, I will also start using the weights too, but don't want to overdo it at the beginning and then not returning , I'm also cutting my calorie intake so I think this is making it more of a challenge too, but at the moment enjoying my time there and if I can lose a few kilos before I go off to Gran Canaria next Month, it will be worth it

Have you been to Gran Canaria before?
I have not, but have seen posts that it is very nude friendly, and many places that are not officially clothing optional are still nude tolerant.

Yes I've been to Gran Canaria and it's definitely nude friendly , in fact when I visited the nudist beach , I saw some naked people on the area that was meant to be clothed and vice versa, lots of bars and clubs have naked parties so yes definitely nude friendly

I thought I'd give a progress report for those that offered me such good advice,, I had a class before my night shifts, class was on Monday Morning and I thought it would help me sleep throughout the day , but as my body was charged with endorphins the effect was the opposite , when I was on my first night shift, I even considered going for a run the following Morning just to keep me in the mood for the gym but didn't see that through, so on Thursday I did a boxercise class and then did my last night shift , on Friday which was when my night shifts finished I had 2 hours sleep went into London came home ate and did a boxfit class but felt really tired at the beginning I told instructor that I'd finished night shifts and he commended me on coming to the class, I was doing well until the last 5 minutes when I got cramp in my leg and couldn't move the instructor helped me get rid of the cramp and I was pleased to be able to finish, got a lot of words of encouragement from the instructor who said he had seen me in the gym on a few occasions and that I was doing a " great job ", I am resting over the weekend and Monday next class is on Tuesday it's called "cardio blast, " then " Hitquest " on Thursday and despite the cramp Boxfit on Friday Evening because despite the cramp I love it

Thanks Widgeon , and although I knew that exercise before going to sleep could go either way, I just needed to have at least one class while doing the four night shifts otherwise it would have been a 5 day gap and that just seemed too much , my leg was still aching and suspect it was probably a pulled muscle I have put " Deep Heat " on it and it seems to be improving, my next class isn't until Tuesday Evening so I have time to rest the aches before I go back, next classes after that Thursday and Friday, and then I need to look at classes for the following week , night shifts again at the end of the Month and then off to GC , still wondering if I'm going to look leaner and fitter before, as the clock is ticking , fortunately my Hotel in Gran Canaria has a gym as well so I should be able to get some exercise there too
