Kings Beach Byron Bay, New South Wales
Kings Beach is one of my favourite beaches. It is only a little way south of Byron Bay, a collection of rocky horseshoe bays surrounded by rainforest covered hills and golden sand. There are plenty of shady pandanus trees and sheltered nooks to spend the day relaxing without the burden of clothes. It is also a favourite spot for surfers as the waves breaking over the rocks seem to be very favourable for them. The surfers don't pay any attention to the nudists and occasionally strip off for a swim, though I've never seen them surf naked. The wild bush turkeys can get annoying at times if you have food with you. They have become adept at getting food out of bags so keep things zipped and secure. Get there early as the small car park fills up quickly.
DIRECTIONS:
From the north on the Pacific Highway take the left exit to Byron Bay on Ewingsdale Rd. Drive to Byron Bay town and turn right Jonson St. Drive South for approx 8 klms along Johnson St, Bangalow Rd and Broken Head Rd. Turn left into Broken Head Reserve Rd. After approx 1.5klms turn right into Seven Mile Beach Rd. (this is a dirt rd but safe for cars). You will eventually come to a small stoney carpark. Take the signed forest walk down through the rainforest to the beach. This is a steep walk so if you are unfit then maybe this place isn't for you.
NOTE: There are no lifesavers, water, vendors or facilities at this beach. The surf can be rough and treacherous at times so don't go in too far. Make sure you bring all supplies and when you leave take all your rubbish with you. Have fun!
It appears the New South Wales Parks and Wildlife Service have proposed to close down the access car park and walking track to Kings Beach. Many people use this beach and the proposal to use the three sisters track is unfair as the beach is totally inaccessible at high tide from that direction.
You can make comment on the proposal document up until Feb 25th.

NJ,Do you know what their justification is for closing the car park and access trail, especially given how popular it is?Cheersnudie-rudie
It seems they are just using the excuse of environmental protection to stop the nudists using the beach. Nudists have minimal impact on the environment. I've been going to Kings beach for twenty five years and it's hardly changed by the visitors.
