Freehiking was my introduction into nudsim too although I didn't even know there was a term for it when I tried it. I visited Gila National Forest a couple of years ago and was there during the week. After two days of not seeing another soul, I got the idea to try hiking in the nude and it was fabulous. I would like doing more of it, but Texas, my current home state is not known for great backpacking opportunities beyond the Big Bend National Park which is a great distance from where I live. So I haven't had the chance to try freehiking here yet.Just this past week I did find what lookedlike a couple of promising sites if I can get away during the week to go when there are likely to be few people on the trails. So maybe I'll get the chance soon.
weather down here is still warm and rain is gone, planning on a hike friday hopefully the place i go will not be crowded and since its friday i worry that may be the case i can only hope that the trail may still be damp and keep most away. i discovered a pond off one of the trails i may hike to, to bad its cool or i would go skinnydipping.
I would love to find a freehiking opportunity in my area. I have done some nude hiking, but I am always cautious, lest I meet somebody on the trail and then that person reports me. I have heard that in Vermont, it is nothing to come upon some nude hikers on a trail.
catbird i would love to spend some time freehiking in vermont ( warm weather of course) to not have to worry about prosecution if seen by others. i wouldn't hesitate to leave my clothes in my car and take my knapsack only on my hike. maybe someday it will happen elsewhere but till then i'm going to continnue freehiking...
last time i went freehiking was second week in november warm enough day that i hiked for about two hours without seeing anyone as i was hiking up a service road a mountain biker came around a curve to fast for me to do anything so i moved out ofthe way and stood there nude as the biker past by never slowing, i waited a few minutes for other bikers but none appeared so i continued on wondering if i would be a subject of conversation at the next mountain biker meeting.
I am a very active Freehiker. I am lucky to live next to a wilderness area in my state (montana). It's the smallest wilderness area in the state, so few ever use it. I have never ran into anyone there. I have Freehiked in some really nice National Parks too.
Favorite place? Death Valley, an overwhelming place. Way more to it then meets the eye.
Scarest place? Bob Marshall Wilderness, south of Glacier Park, no people......just Grizzly Bears! It's still Freehiking if you have to wear a sidearm right? Ha.
Funnest place? Joshua Tree, so many hidden wonderful spots there, a real gem of a place.
I can't wait for spring.
Freehiker 4 ever
