Oregon: Cougar Hot Springs: Access

It's August 2018, I'm hoping to visit the Cougar Hot Springs between Eugene and Sisters, Oregon; and I was recently informed that the main road leading off the Eugene Highway to get to the Cougar Hot Springs was blocked due to extremely poor road conditions. Is this still true? Does anyone know anything about this?

Last I heard is that they were working on it. Don't know if they had completed the work yet.

I believe it had reopened, but it has just been closed again due to the wildfire burning in the Willamette National Forest. Apparently started just north of the springs and was moving away initially, but winds change and it was uncontained as of yesterday and continuing to grow. I haven't seen any confirmation one way or the other on whether the hot springs themselves have burned.
