Thank you. WIll be a long couple of months, since I will be sleeping on the floor to keep him company. I have air mattresses in living room and bedroom

Good that you are staying with your dog while he recovers. Our Greyhound had her left front leg amputated due to Osteosarcoma and I set up an air mattress and spent 3-4 weeks sleeping in the living room with her. She ended up living another 2.5 years before the cancer came back. Her Oncologist was amazed at how well she did.

My first dog, a pit/samoyed, had same thing. She only lasted 6 months after amputation and trying 3 different chemos. Worst day of my life was saying goodbye to her.
I was amazed at how fast she adapted to amputation. She was up on the bed in no time
And with Hapi, surgeon was amazed at how fast he is recovering
