Why do they call something we drive on PARKWAYS!!!!! But something we park on DRIVEWAYS!!!!!!! Just seems strange
I have wondered this myself for many years, and have asked many people their thoughts on it, too. No one has been able to come up with a good reason for it. The best I have been able to come up with is, who ever came up with the terminology did not have a firm grasp of the meanings of the two words in our language. Along a similar note, in the UK a parking lot is called a Car Park. Kind of sounds like a place cars go to, to play and have fun with each other.
