Feileadh Mor---The Great Kilt
I've always worn a Great Kilt, having been introduced to kilts when we were involved in historical reenactment...and always worn it "regimental" a.k.a. freeballing. Love it, absolutely love it.
Now, mind you, you don't just buckle on a Great Kilt and go...this is the original style of kilt, 9+ yards of heavyweight tartan. With this you have to fold it yourself before you wear it, measuring the front panels by the length of your arm and then folding the pleats in the middle. Then comes belting it on and then tucking the extra material how you want to wear it (think Braveheart). Granted, it's not a small task but to wear such a liberating article of clothing in its original form is fantastic.
I to enjoy the great kilt. I have one that is simply plain brown that I often wear in the hunting season. Sadly, right now I barely have the floor space to easily do the pleating. Have you come up with a good solution for dealing with limited spaces?
Yes, that is exactly what I do. It works but I find it is much more difficult to get the pleats "right" vs. a hard or slick surface. I thought about putting a plastic "dropcloth" on the bed, which should make it easier to get good even pleats. Is that what you do, or do you just have more skill?
