Mankind Project - New Warrior Training
Ive wondered the same thing. Ive read a lot about the Mankind Project and the New Warrior Training Adventure. Lots of interesting commentary, some favorable and lots of criticism of the group and the weekend. Obviously a lot of secretiveness about what actually goes on. I, too, have been curious about the amount and context of nudity involved.
I'm a warrior and there is no set agenda regarding nudity. It varies likely depending on what center is involved and what their funding and culture are.
To share anything specific about the training is a diservice. It's not that anything is top secret but rather that the focus is on getting out of our thinking and head mode for greater experiental transformational change. In that way, I think nudists are well-suited (or unsuited perhaps} for the weekend.
The biggest benefit of the training comes afterwards in small group integration and development. Change takes time. Oveall I can recommend it and am glad to be a warrior.
Good luck!
I guess I still dont understand the need for that level of secrecy. Its the primary reason Ive never attended a NWTA weekend. Im quite comfortable being naked. In that environment, where the other guys are naked too, it would be quite exhilarating and bonding, Im sure. The extreme secrecy has always kept me away, though. I think the MP does itself a disservice by not describing in a bit more detail what to expect and what will happen. Probably prevents other guys like me from attending. Makes it seem like there is something to hide. And contributes to the comparisons of a cult.
I did my New Warrior Weekend Adventure 25 years ago. It was a turning point in my life and something I very much needed. It was a great help to me personally and I recommend the Weekend Adventure.
There is nudity involved, but if that is the reason you would be doing the NWTA, you would go away sorely disappointed. There are some centers that are anti-nudity for one reason or another (mostly they think it turns off the younger guys), but my own personal view is that if they do that, they are castrating the weekend.
I was at one time a Co-Leader in the organization, but am not a political player, so it didn't work out well for me there. I still recommend the program.
As far as the secrecy, I thought as an organization they were more willing to be transparent. For many years, we were supposed to be vague about the nudity because that seemed to be what a lot of people wanted to know about.
