Pace picked up recently

For some reason my book reading pace was slower this year than the past few. But the past month I have tried to make up for it. Been reading my goal of 3 books in 2 weeks. From a sci-fi fiction , my first in a while, to true tales of a giant elephant that read similar to The Life of Pi, to the story of the most famous steam engine, the Flying Scotsman. Currently in the 2nd to most recent Pike Logan book by Brad Taylor Ring of Fire

what has been going in front of your eyes. ?

I have been reading "Rules of Civility" and "A Gentleman in Moscow" by Amor Towles. The latter has been a slow read for me.

looks like it will be a 62 book year. Reading my 61st now. A first hand account by a young British woman who went to Soviet Russia in the 1930s. She lived at a commune for several weeks then toured Moscow, Leningrad ( aka St. Petersburg) and other cites. Quite enlightening about Russian life before WW2 from the eyes of a Brit.

I had a busy year involved doing other things so I fell way short of my 12 book goal for 2018. I did manage 6 books with one more possibly finishing up before the New Year.

I finished up a book like that a couple months ago. It was a 600 page biography on Andrew Carnegie. That was a dry but interesting read. The stuff I really get into are books on the US Civil War and anything related to Oak Island and the Knight's Templars. Fascinating!
