RE:World record

195, that's fantastic. Good to know the cold and storm Freya didn't put people off. Naked, in a wooden roller coaster in a storm only scores 1 out of 3 :)

Pity about the trouble though

RE:World record

Let's untangle this. I was there.

First the roller coaster: It was bitterly cold. I heard 250 had signed up for it, paying 5 GBP costs each. But the cold must have put some people off. So we only clocked 195 actually going on the ride. (But that was nearly twice the previous record.) I remember when we had to wait, agreeing with some others that this was total madness. Imagine at a temperature of 10 deg C (45 F) in light rain. It was bitterly cold walking to the venue - clothed. Imagine the wind-chill naked on a roller coaster. There were people who I'd never seen before but, as the organiser said, we'd be seeing a lot more of each other soon. Actually the walk to the Grand National roller coaster and the waiting was much colder than the actual ride. Was it the rush of adrenalin, the shelter from the partly enclosed seats or just the violence of the ride? For whatever reason it was truly exhilarating. And we got a certificate and a stick of Blackpool rock as a reward.

I did see it mentioned in today's Sun Newspaper (see below).

And the protest: After the roller coaster challenge we went across the road to the water park. It gave a welcome opportunity to warm up. By the time I got there to protest was over. But I did talk to someone who had a nasty experience getting in. I'll leave others to add the detail.
