Yes, waiting for the timer can be unnerving. I have been using a multiple shot setting which helps with poses, but it is a slow process. Definitely could use a photo buddy.
For sure!! Yea, a photo buddy would make the process so much easier, faster and perhaps get better photos the first time.
I bought one of the cheap selfie sticks and was unhappy with it. The camera would swivel around to the bottom and never hang straight. What was worth the money was the wi-fi button that works the camera button! You can take your photo when you are ready and click several more as you change positions.
The stick does make a good prop to position the camera when setting it down.

I was gonna suggest this. I'm not into taking selfies, but I've used to button from an old selfie stick to prevent camera wobble.
The flexi tripods with bendy legs are great for positioning the camera / phone on uneven surfaces such as rocks
First I agree with NOT flashing; I don't do this in order to offend or get caught, it's more like thumbing your nose at society and some really stupid/archaic ideologies about nudity and the human body that makes it fun to get a picture in a public place. I've had success with a camera that has a timer, but you it does require more time and effort to get a picture than if you have someone helping you out. I'd have more fun with a partner in crime but as it stands it seems that there are no other people in my area willing to play the game :])
