First Nudist Experience

I've seen many posts from people who really want to try nudism but nervous about that first big plunge. Being nude at home or in a locker room cannot really be called social nudism. I believe that social nudism is what people are thinking about when they express these fears or doubts. Here is my recommendation for people who are a little shy about taking the plunge into social nudism. Weather you're a man or a woman, you're best friend is a LARGE beach towel. Put one end over your shoulder and spread the rest across your front. Your backside will be exposed and no one can say that you're not nude. The important thing is that you'll know you are nude. Let the towel hang loosely and go about meeting and greeting people. You will soon become very comfortable with the breeze blowing over your naked body and the lack of a judgemental attitude by the people you meet, that you'll have little trouble dropping the towel altogether. You will then probably experience an overwheling feeling of euphoria and at the end of the day be reluctant to put your clothes back on. I hope this helps and welcome to the world of nudism.

RE: First Nudist Experience

I consider my first nudist experience to be when I made my first visit to a nudist resort because I wanted to go skinny dipping. Prior to that I often swam nude at the YMCA when they had swims for men and high school boys only, nylon suits or no suits. When the Y went co-ed the rules changed and suits (of any kind) were required.

So when I found out there was a nudist resort not far from me I made my first visit. Not only could I go skinny-dipping I learned how comfortable it was to be outside in the fresh air and sunshine completely nude. I liked it so much I became a member of that club and after my retirement a few years ago moved into the clothing optional community I currently live in.

I tell others that it takes time to get used to going around nude in public in front of others -- sometimes as long as 15 minutes

RE: First Nudist Experience

I guess you could take a break, laugh, or whatever about my 1st nudist experience! Hard to believe, but a good whipping can really have a lasting experience!
At about the age of 1 1/2 yrs old, I remember my Mother yelling for Dad, "Jr's naked and in a mudhole"! People can say you never remember things when you were that young..............Bull!
I remember seeing a low spot in our yard filled with rainwater after a downpour. I distinctly remember wanting to jerk my clothes off (which I did) and before you knew it, I was in the pool of water near the back porch good as never before! Needless to say, with my strict Southern unbringng about right and wrong, I can still feel the sting of my Daddy's belt to this dayalthough approaching 65 yrs of age! I also remember the feeling of "no clothes" and although my Dad got the message across, the rest is history. That was probably the one and only time my Dad's belt didn'tcomplish it's intention! Since no one else has gone that far back with experience, apparently, your Dad didn't give you a lasting memory as mine so efficiently did!
Amazingly, that feeling, or experience was the starting point in my embracing nudism! Closet for years and somewhat still, but now, don't give as.... what folks think now! Still working on the wife's viewpoint about social nudism other than hiding in the closet about it!
Any one else's memory jogged now about those younger years about "Nakedness"?

Social nudism

It took me a long time before I started going to a club! But I suppose we all get to where we want to be at our own pace!

All great advice

Lots of great advice on this thread. I'd add just a small piece of my own -- bring a good book or an iPod. This will give you something to do and help "normalize" the situation if you're nervous. Of course, don't spend the whole time doing this -- socializing and meeting new friends is one of the best parts of visiting nudist venues!
