Minor Gripes
I have been going to El Dorado since the 1990s, and will continue to go. My last visit left me a bit turned off, however.
When I went to the front desk, there was no one there. That happens sometimes, but there is usually someone near by. Instead, there was a note to call a phone number. I did, and it took a few minutes for someone to appear. I get people having to step away, but this seemed to be a way for someone not to have to attend to the desk.
The water was a bit yellowish. I dont know if thats because the pools hadnt been cleaned or an issue with the chemical composition of the water changing. There wasnt anyone around that I could address this to when I was on my way out.
I gave El Dorado a call because I wanted an e-mail address so I could write a note to them. The person on the phone gave me a terse no. I decided not to address the issues I had on the phone. I wouldnt be writing here if I could have sent them an e-mail.
No e-mail? Good lord. Someone involved in that place must have an e-mail address. Back when that fellow Bill ran the place, he was a pretty ubiquitous presence in the nudist part of the internet, so its a bit of a step back. Anyway, their website still looks like a Geocities site set up by a high school sophomore in 1997. Not only is it hard to read, the fact that its still up doesnt indicate that the folks that run the place give a damn.
Its still one of my favorite places, but Id like the owners and staff to be a little more committed.
PS - They seem to have reduced their prices though.
