Nudist and didn't know it

I'm amazed at how many people enjoy nudity but would never self-identify as a nudist.

A few years ago Annie and I put signs in our driveway saying "clothing optional beyond this point" two signs and they're far enough down the drive so they can't be seen from the road, that way we don't attract gawker's. Surprisingly they have served as excellent ice breakers, when friends or acquaintances come over that didn't know we are into nudism, they get a hunch when they see the signs. And they usually ask about it.

When they ask what's with the sign or something like that, I just say oh, we go outside naked when the weathers nice, And there's not much better than being naked and barefoot in the Montana Summer sun. Not a single one of them has stepped back to gasp in horror. On the contrary, they generally go on to tell me (or us)about their own nudist experience skinny dipping or going thru a field naked stuff like that. I know it's not the same as socializing in the nude, but it's a step in the right direction. And that's probably how most of us started out.

I think when people realize we're fairly open about nudity maybe they don't feel the need to be as ashamed or embarrassed to disclose they also enjoy nudity. I guess it's safer to leave the closet naked, when you know everyone on the other side of the door is naked.

Sadly most of these people wouldn't think of themselves as nudist, so they wouldn't seek out sites like this. Unfortunately other nudist will never meet them.
