This is a good idea. However this site already uses Captcha, I have noticed, after replying some messages, the system asks me for captcha before sending it. They just need,as you said, to implement captcha in the moment the profile is created.
TT1 has implemented the Captcha for when user's create a profile as well. We are doing everything in our power to stop the spam BOTS that annoy us as well as our users. Thanks for being participative and letting us know when they hit as well.
