Landed vs. non-landed
I would be interested in hearing from people here who have experience with both. We have only attended landed facilities, but on the other hand, aside from the much lower costs, there are certain aspects of non-landed or travel groups that appeal to me. I can only assume these aspects exist, not having any hands on experience with non landed, but it seems to me non landed groups would be closer knit, and more apt to form close friendships. This would appeal to us more than the constant coming and going of strangers one finds in a landed resort, especially larger ones. Doing activities together, ie nude bowling, renting an indoor pool, or even just gathering at one member's home, seems to me as being more conducive to forming a tighter group. Plus, I would think such a group would be better at self-policing, should an undesirable slip in the back door.
Any of our more seasoned nudists have an opinion on this?
Both have their pros and cons. I would much rather be at a landed resort. I enjoy walking alone on trails enjoying what nature has given me. Non-landed would offer more in the winter time. But as for meeting and making freinds that's all in your personality. Freindships are defined by you and the other person when you first meet.
Thanks for the great responses. Yes, I realize Cheri is probably as knowledgable as anyone on nudism and the various entities of it. Snugglebunny also has experience with both if I remember correctly. I would imagine the real fly in the ointment for a non landed would be start-up. Putting the world out, I can only imagine some of the cretins responding who know nothing about nudism and assume it's something entirely different.
There is another upside of a nonlanded club. The variety of destinations can be as varied as the members' homes. I don't have the patience to just sit around the pool or clubhouse. Travelites' members' homes include pools, hot tubs, trails, volleyball, etc. PLUS we have our annual canude trip usually using one of the nudist parks (about 3 hrs. away) as our base camp. We've organized a trip to Cypress Cove in April during which we'll visit AANR's office - so far we have 25 joining in the fun. We also enjoy visiting Serendipity in northeast GA over long holiday weekends. One of our club's mottos is, "it's great having so many best friends," - really spells it out.
.
Another plus is if you need help with ANYTHING, members are likely to help. We've helped lots of members over the years move from one home to another...as long as they've only one story homes or are on the bottom floor of an apartment. ;) We've had a number of impromptu gatherings at members' homes as well.
.
Additionally, you can visit all the nudist parks you want and still get the discount on grounds fees.

As far as starting a nonlanded club, as part of AANR's Marketing and Mentoring programs and TNS's NOVA program, I will gladly help anyone wanting to start a nonlanded club. If you're not ready to spend @ 20 hrs. a week, don't start.
We belong to two non-landed clubs and have visited several resorts. There are some advantages to both types of clubs but we much prefer the non-landed clubs. We usually meet at members homes where we are able to share conversation, food, beverages, pools and hot tubs with our nudist friends. The groups are very close knit, because we come to know each other so well, but are very friendly and welcoming to new members. Sometimes there are 40 or more members attending some of our home parties but I can't recall any event where there were too many people. Home parties are especially nice during the "off" season. On the other hand landed resorts usually provide additional activities along with meeting new people. Landed clubs also provide for extended stays that are almost impossible with non-landed activities, but camping trips are often on the schedule. Probably the best of both worlds is when a non-landed club schedules an event at a landed facility. Often times non-landeded clubs can get a special group rate at the landed resorts.
The closest landed club or resort is 3 1/2 hrs away so there is no choice for us. We belong to a non-landed club and have monthly gatherings, house parties, etc. We have different theme parties and during the summer many visit other clubs. Due to the number of re-tires many also do not travel much. We supplement with houseparties in the winter till about May. Also, don't hesitate to join more than one club. We know people with 4 memberships just cause they go to several and want different things.
