Captcha security codes exist to foil the automated scripts that can generate and send spam faster than you can imagine. They work, while providing a very minor inconvenience to humans. The 7 or 8 seconds it takes a person to type in a code saves 7 or 8 THOUSAND spams that could have been easily sent in that same time frame but for the captcha. We may be slightly annoyed until we realize what good they do. Now, shoot a spammer.
And for the record, this one is probably the easiest one to read, that I have come across,
and it's not case sensitive either. They can be a whole lot worse than this.
I'm not a fan of the security code especially because more than once i've typed it correctly but it comes up as "Security Text Does not match" which forces me to do the whole message over again. I do however understand why it's there. I do agree that it should be there on the initial message but it would help if it was not necessary for a reply sent to someone that just sent you a message or if there is a conversation already established between two people through the messaging system. All in all, it's just an inconvenience.
Use your back arrow, once - maybe twice to get the original message. Then copy the text.

Unfortunately, that works sometimes, and sometimes not, kinda like the quoting system here.
Being so unpredictable, I ALWAYS compose anything for this site in a plain text editor, like windows notepad, ( though my personal choice is VI ) then copy into new.
Fortunately, the auto-logout has been GREATLY extended from what it used to be
I'm glad that it's there. If it worked!!! 99% of the time it says it's wrong, yet I'm 100% sure I've typed it as it's displayed. I also learned to copypaste before sending a message. And why aren't messages threaded? If I hit reply to someone's email, I have to go back in and fill in a new subject..
One good reason to use the quote feature.

Quote feature doesn't exist when replying to messages...it only existson the forum and group postings.

what I'd like to see is when someone comments on one of your pictures, you can click on a button that lets you comment back instead of just deleting the comment or having to go to their profile and then leave a message. It should be between the two of you at that point.
Not sure if it's been mentioned already but I'd also like to see that feature for leaving messages. It is ridiculous that in order to reply to a message, one has to go back to that person's profile, without even seeing the previous message, and then type in a security code. And I'm with the OP on this one, there is absolutely NO need to have a security code when one is REPLYING to a message.
EDIT: Sorry, just noticed the second page here with people talking about the thread feature. That is what I would like to see as well.
