tree down

Several years ago an American elm died. It stood on the back edge of my property. Vines began to creep up it which added weight to the weakening wood. Yesterday when I got home it looked a bit different but I could not place exactly what. I unloaded the car and was inside when i heard an ongoing series of cracks and crashes. I think what i had noticed different was that it had twisted and was leaning. I looked out and the entire 1ft diameter tree had collapsed. Partly into a hedgerow along the property line and partly into the yard. Today I got out there before it got too hot and fired up the chainsaw and cleaned up the portions which jutted out into the yard. That took 4 garden way cart loads to the burn pile which for about 100ft i was in view of the road. All was done nude but I did wear safety glasses when I had the chainsaw running. Dripping with sweat now but glad the worst is cleaned up. The portion in the hedge row i can lop off and stack up for campfire wood as I need it.
