West Coast Wildfires
Regarding the West Coast WildfiresThe U S Forest Service has closed the forest in California at 5pm last Monday to the public, this includes all developed camp grounds and picnic areas. This is not the time to be naked on Forest land and getting caught.
I wonder if this includes "dispersed" camping. Probably does in the most critical areas. But I doubt if it would make any difference being naked or not.
The reason that the forests are closed is to make sure that there are roads there that are not impeded by traffic, so the firefighters can move their equipment in and out quickly.
It's a bad scene, for sure. We've lost a few small towns completely, and other are severely damaged. I've got friends in Phoenix, Oregon who have been evacuated. Their house is still OK but they have no power or potable water there. And they say that the air won't fall below unhealthy levels of particulate for at least another month, maybe two.
Part of the reason the National forests are closed is that the fires have been so bad theyve been stranding people in areas where theres only one road in or out and it passes through the fire. Theyve had to airlift a lot of people to safety.

I just looked it up. All National Forests in California are closed until September 14. This includes dispersed camping as well. I expect that, if the fires aren't substantially controlled, this will extend for at least another couple of weeks.
