Barber here
I used to go to a naked barber. He's moved away, but it's a thing and he was successful at it. He operated out of a shed in his back yard (it was nicer than it sounds)... kind of a mini-day spa really. He did massage and manscaping too. Otherwise, these salon suite style places could work too...You have your own mini-salon space, and you'd just need to curtain off the windows during nude sessions. But, with little more than word of mouth, this would do really well.
I am a barber but no I am not a naked barber. Men would expect sex. I am not a prostitute. I have standards.
I've had two different nude barbers give me haircuts and I was nude also. There was no sex, they didn't indicate any and neither did I. So to assume 'men would expect sex', that is like saying all nude men want sex. You have set your limits / standards clearly before hand, and if they don't agree to them, then don't do the haircut.
Would love to be a nudist barber. How can I make this happen?
i guess it depends on if you rent a chair in a babershop , are an employee , own a barbershop or work from home/mobile.
firstly if you own a babershop it would be easier to get nudist services up and running , for example in your shop have an allocated session where you allow clothing optional services. this allows your current customers to know that between for example 7 and 9pm on a thursday you offer services where clothing is optional, so they know not to drop in or schedule apointments in that session time if nudity is not their thing. i also reccomend screens to cover any public street facing windows to respect the clients privacy and avoid having lurkers seeking a thrill .
if you are mobile / work from home set up a page to advertise youre services a group here might even be useful , or make an advert for your services on this page ? clearly outline your rules during services to prevent those with wrong intentions mistaking it for something its not , rather than try to go 100% nude barbering think of it as something additional you do / offer along with your regular services to see how the response goes , who knows it could take off so well that you need to expand and go full time on nude services. as it is a pretty unique and niche area it wouldnt be unreasonable to charge a little bit extra also as im sure customers would agree they wont mind paying a little extra for a differnt experiance. the good thing about doing it mobile / at home is you wouldnt have to be limited to an allocated time slot for naked barbering you would no before hand which client is going to be up for a naked haircut and who wants a clothed baber experiance.
little differnt if you rent a chair or are an employee as you would need to gain permission from the barbershop owner , something they may misunderstand at first but if you have done marketresearch and see there is a postiive response for this type of service in the area may see that infact it is a profitable addition to their business , you could work outside of the normal business hours to not interupt the regualr business flow for example or have a private screened off area in the barbershop for naked services .
i think personally the demand for it is there , just be sure you make every client aware of your bounderies and rules sad to have to do it but keeps you safe and anyone there for an actual nudist haircut / shave etc wont mind being told what is to be expected of the during a service :) wishing you the best of luck buddy
well if you own your own shop have after hour appointments and probably some window shades, first nude haircut i had was at a barber home , i just noticed his sign as ii was driving by , actually i had seen it before driving to nude campground and stopped.
First thing first. You need to decide what being a naked barber means to you. Everyone who has commented before me has given sound and correct advice. However what they havent said is remember you will be bound by your state board rules if your operating during normal business hours. You would need to call it a private event and be on top of your sanitation, disinfection and sterilization before, and after the event as well as during the service. You would need to be vigilant about being cleanly.
Obviously you know your target market but you dont know how to find them at this point. Thats easy once you have your business plan in place, and the ground work done. Sure, you know to tap into all of your local and national resources connected to being nude.
