Day pass (?)!!!

The day pass dilemma keeps coming up. it seems to be something that people really want, so we will undoubtably develop some sort of day pass, or a 48-hour or 72-hour pass. I've been reluctant to do it for several reasons that are basically four fold.

1- We're not a licensed resort and we're not legally allowed to be open to the public. If we did get the licensing the regulations accompanying licensing would make the membership fees unaffordable to virtually everybody. So, the day pass would need to be inclusive to only nudist oriented people (or some type of a barrier that would prevent the general public from being admitted) thus avoiding being perceived as "open to the public" in violation of state law. (So it has to be clear that it is a private club).

2- Another reason I've been reluctant to offer a day pass; I don't think a day pass is a good value to the person purchasing it. In my mind, why spend 10 or 25 bucks to come here for a day, when a 12 month membership is only 133? The cost of 7-Day passes is more then the membership, and with the membership you get the gate code and you can go anytime you want . And the local KOA, charges 40 and up to 80 per night for a tent camping site. So, 3 days at the KOA is more than a 12 month membership here. An the KOA will throw you out if you try to jump in the pool naked. And here nakedness is celebrated!

3- The third problem is of course time, the club isn't staffed so there's no one there to collect a day pass fee. And if we were to coordinate a day pass with each person, it would be several hours per person to collect 10 or 25 bucks. It usually starts out with a few emails or phone calls or both, then I have to give directions to the club for somebody who may or may not be serious, they may or may not show up, or they may get lost on the way, and by the time it's all said and done with each person we've spent three hours.... Past experience has shown that only a small fraction would come through and actually pay. So, 10 people x 3 hours is 30 hours, if two of the people came through, I would have collected 20 to $40 bucks. That's not even accounting for the money lost from setting aside my regular work to meet with people that won't show up, or follow through. This arduous process could all be avoided, if this person were really serious, they could have just paid the 133 and joined. It takes them less than 10 minutes to fill out the form and pay, and takes me about 10 minutes to send them directions and a gate code. In short, the 12-month membership is it better utilization of everybody's time and money, theirs and mine....

4- We don't make money operating the club, all of the membership dues go back into the club maintenance and construction. The time involved with meeting coordinating and collecting a day pass fee, is time that could have been better utilized building or creating something tangible. (the flavor and excitement of the club wouldn't be realized by a person just visiting for a day).

Despite the financial impracticality of a day pass people continue to want one. Some want to pay more money to receive less value. It's sort of a self-destructive nature of people wanting to screw themselves....... (People screwing themselves is why society is what it is today) That's why they have 1.30 soda pop for a single plastic bottle near the checkout, and three aisles over an entire 12 pack for 4.50.....

Nevertheless, people want to pay more to get less, I guess I'm okay with that as long as they're doing it willingly and we're not losing too much time or money on it. And more importantly, the day pass won't put us in violation of state law.

The rough outline of a day pass: It has to be on a day that we're already at the Club or a member is there to let them in, have them sign the liability waiver, and rule acknowledgement. (Perhaps the member could keep a portion of the day pass fee. Like half, for taking the time to let the day visitor in).

It should be remembered, a member can bring in a visitor for free. As long as it's someone the Member knows well, and trusted enough to bring them to your house....

Members bringing free guests has been the best source of memberships.

Perhaps we could also bring back the nudity required rule for day pass visitors. it would be hard for the state to say that we violated the law by being open to the public, if we're requiring the person strip before they enter. Or at least require that the males, I wouldn't want to scare away the women.

We are happy to hear any suggestions. We will formulate brief detail of a day pass fees and requirement as soon as we can come up with simple straightforward guidelines.

RE:Day pass (?)!!!

And of course in some circumstances a day pass could be beneficial for the person receiving it, if they were out of the area, and just traveling through..... I think the local people wanting the day pass, haven't read the website and have unrealistic expectations of the club and its few amenities.

RE:Day pass (?)!!!

My experience with day passes are when I'm traveling through an area and want to visit for a day or two. There would be no logical sense in purchasing an annual membership that I won't use! When I visit a resort/park, I call ahead and introduce myself, giving an estimated time of arrival and alerting management that I'm AANR and TNS, which gives me some credibility. Even with those creds, sometimes I've been turned away due to being a solo male. In those cases, I just figure that I don't need to be a customer. . . and I'm prone to not speak highly of the resort to my many naturist friends.

There are at least 10 naturist resorts within 5 hours of my home in southern PA. I cannot afford to become a member of each and day passes are how I enjoy all of them from time to time. The farthest being 5 hours, I like to spend the night at those venues which gives them a bit more income from my visit.

So day passes have their place if they can be managed economically!

I agree mentioning your affiliations does lend credibility. Even more than aanr I like it when they've got a profile on true nudist, then we can get an idea of what they look like what their hobbies
or interest are and how long they've been on the site. Or even if they were a member of true swingers site that would be helpful as well. Of course I guess for that matter Facebook has several nudist groups too, if they sent an email with a link to their Facebook profile that would probably be helpful as well.

I try not to get too intrusive with the membership information in fact I don't even ask for a specific address, I just ask for city and state. because I can understand from the other perspective how they may not want to give out too much of their information, since they're just dealing with a website. And a name, city and state is enough to find out if it's a real person or not.

I think we will come up with some sort of a day pass and as you noted it has to be practical economically for both sides..... It'll likely be something where they need to have a membership or affiliation with some sort of nudist organization or website.

And we'll probably offer a discount day pass for TN members.
