Exploring Reds

I started drinking reds a couple of years ago for the "health benefits" (haha, yea) - but being a beginner I was drawn mostly to the sweet reds - initially my most favorite was an Indiana wine made by Oliver, Soft Red, a very sweet honey wine. They also have a nice Soft Rose. Barefoot Wine out of California has a new Sweet Red that is more fruity and very nice. Easley is another Indiana winemaker that makes a sweet one called Reggae Red, this has become my most recent favorite, not as sickly sweet as the Oliver. The newest discovery was given to me by a guy I have been dating, from South Africa, Jam Jar wine, a Sweet Shiraz, a very nice light and fruity with chocolate undertones! Not TOO sweet at all! Barefoot makes a sweet red, not too bad.... Then there are the Michigan wines - Tabor Hill has a demi Red that is okay, and one called Cherry Pie that is more of a desert variety. There were a couple of boxed chillable reds/table reds that were on the sweet side that I have purchased in the past, but they weren't memorable enough to, well, remember.... All of these are served chilled.
(I have found that Cabernet Sauvignon is not too bad, the few bottles I have tried had a sweetish component, weren't too dry for my taste, but most merlots I did not care for. Surprisingly enough I do like a good Pinot Noir, and that is supposed to be a fairly dry red...)
So, that is my treatise on the sweet reds that I have found available in my area - when I lived in Vegas it was a real challenge to find replacements for the Indiana wines of course, and there were a couple of others that I have forgotten the labels that I had purchased one or two bottles of when there...... I really miss Total Wine stores, we don't have those here in the Elkhart/South Bend area.... **sigh**
