I don't know how long the "Certified Profile" feature has existed (since I just joined the site within the past week)- I look at one's profile to see if it is certified (as I see that as making it more probable that the person(s) are actually people and not keyboard junkies / bots / fakes) Not saying the certification process guarantees anything, but like to assume that there is at least some vetting going on with that.
I am also looking to see if they are potentially in the same geographical area of the globe that I am in or have ties with in some fashion (grew up, lived in or relatives in that area, etc.). I probably need to put more information in my profile, but tend to be a rather private / introverted person.
A word of warning though..............if you go to the chat room and attempt to start a meaningful conversation, the resident lynch mob will attack you and use anything and everything that you post in your profile against you. Yes this is stupid, moronic, childish, etc. You also need to know that some in that room have multiple different profiles to gang up and use these profiles to attack. Beware!
