Had no idea this was a common practice among men in Germany. What is the cultural reason behind it?

In Germany you must ask the question the otherway around. Are there any men who dont shave their armpits?

I also either shave or use a hair removal lotion under my arms. I definitely think it cuts down on odor especially during summer months.

I keep my body hair below the neck down, recently had surgery and my pubes got shaved in the process.

I have removed my underarm hair since swimming in high school. I just prefer it on me. I now use "No Hair Crew" cream now. I have done mostly neck down since, but not always.

I trim my underarm with my buzz clippers. Keep it short. But hairy in general below the chest.

Since 8th grade when started competing in swimming, started to remove all of my body hair, and have been doing it since. Just a few times let it go wild for a month or so. I have tried razor, hot wax, cream and tweezers (now day just use tweezers in the front of my body, since doing the rest is or expensive or rakes way too much time) so being smooth almost all my life, from the neck down.
