RE: Are the Chat Room Mods REALLY necessary?

Mistakes are somtimes made. After all we as well as the mods are only human. and if they did apologize then they corrected the mistake and were Decent enough to admit it. Once again they are here for a reason and me as well as countless others are glad they are here.

Yes.. i agree. mistakes are made and they were decent enough to apologize however.. it did pee me off and while I am a customer here I don't feel I was served properly nor was the site owner served properly in that exchange for it still sticks in me craw quite a bit as can be seen in my constant haranguing of cliques here. I think this site was started with the proper ideas and still tries to maintain that even in the face of those who want to start their own private club. Which is why i stick around because I can see the struggles of a site that wants to maintain relevency in the face of those who want to take over control. I no longer go back to some sites similar to this one because the cliques have taken total control and the site owners went along with that. I am hoping this site is different in that it allows for opinions and discourse and even a few friendly jabs without the need to control the chatters like they are children.
If i were the only one complaining about the treatment in the chatroom..I would just hush up about it and let it lie.. but there are many complaints and while I think most mods here have the proper attitude there are.. as in all organizations a few who are a bit 'quick to click' and that needs to be dealt with. Hopefully those people will see this posting and realize that I am not one of those nuts out there harrassing women and realize some of these complaints are legitimate.

RE: Are the Chat Room Mods REALLY necessary?

To Philfreeeuk: I appreciate the intelligent and well thought out exchange from some of the other posters above. Some of their points are well stated and articulate, and precisely the type of dialogue I sought when posting my question. Although I would totally support your right to do so, I would ask you to please refrain from posting insults. It is not becoming of your intellect. I believe you are referring to my posting formatting screw up using MS WORD to first edit the post, but even still - use your words. Dont insult.

Actually, I was just referring to the question, though I can see how my quoting your post, could have led you to think that, I'll correct it.

I am simply amazed, that anyone (given all the agro that we had prior to the mods being appointed) can have a profile here for that long, and still ask such a question. And, now that you mention it, also not know how to paste to the forum, despite numerous references to the instructions in the FAQ group.

The only logical explanation, that I can think of for this, is, that you have not been here.

Hence, my question.

RE: Are the Chat Room Mods REALLY necessary?

What is needed is a method of policing the police. When I frequented the Marvel boards there was a mod there who was known as a bit of a tyrant. He'd argue with a lot of the posters and if he couldn't shout his point across then he had a habit of banning them from the site for about a week. He did this to me once or twice and a large group of us complained but he was a mod so even the other mods couldn't touch him. Eventualy he banned me permanently and I decided I wasn't going to come back with a new profile. To be honest I was glad to be gone. My point is that while he was a mod, he was also an ass and needed to be modded himself. The same can happen on any site so I think what is needed is a method of policing the police rather than removing them all together.

There is a method for policing the moderators. If you feel someone is out of line, moderator or otherwise, you are free to flag them and add a description of why you did it. Though a single flag may go unnoticed, were a moderator to be completely out of line, enough flags would certainly get attention.

The site owner (TeamTrue1) has autonomous control, he setup the moderators, and he can take action when he feels it's needed. He is also interested in feedback from members. To the OP, if you want to make a suggestion, get certified and make one in the section of the forum he created for that purpose.

Wherever there are moderators, there will be some complaints about them. From our experience, the mods here at TN are playinga criticalrole and the atmosphere in the chat room is noticeably better when they are around.

ADDED WITH EDIT:
Sorry for the redundant post - the previous one didn't exist when I hit reply.

RE: Are the Chat Room Mods REALLY necessary?

Peace, without reading everyone's responses in their entirety, I have been going to nudist chat rooms for years and the ones that are unmoderated are absolute disasters and they drive all of the good people away. This is a fact and even in this room, when mods are not there I have seen the room get out of control with some people, and yes I'll call them "PERVS" Your comment about taking offense to the term baffles me too, since you may be right that some non nudists think all of us are pervs, BUT this is a nudist site so therefore the members here know that PERVS need no other term to define them. I won't comment on your booting situation because I was not there except to say, the rules are set by the owner, this is not a democracy and all must abide by them.

RE: Are the Chat Room Mods REALLY necessary?

I have been a member here for a long time, I quit going to the chat room because of all problems iin chat before we had mods in the chat room. This experience tells me that Mods are necessary.

I have seen a lot of good people leave here because they got tired of the harrassment. If someone has to continuously block people because of it, it takes away from being able to enjoy the chat.

Peacemale, I normally do not talk about why someone is booted from chat. Since you brought it out to open forum I will respond. I have seen you come into chat and attack the mods with inflamatory remarks. It was a clear case of trolling.

I would like to thank all who responded in support.

I don't want to go back to the days before Mods, when there were flaming wars and inappropiate talk in the chat room. There has recently been threads about the women who left TN, because of what went on in the chat room. Because of this, mods are necessary. I support the mods.

The owner of the site has the right to decide what is proper behavior in his house. The rules are posted on the page one uses to enter chat. They're painfully simple.
Exactly, as an owner of a forum, that keeps advertising crap out by bearing the cost, I completely agree.
As to the need for Mods, the answer is yes, yes, and hell yes. Site owners are not and cannot be on their site 24/7. Just not reasonable or reality. So to maintain some level of standard, the Mods are needed and should be appreciated for their time and effort.

Civilization exists precisely because man chooses to put restrictions on
uncivilized public behavior. Anarchy does not and cannot work. True
Nudists is NOT a public place like Hyde Park. It is a privately-owned,
privately operated Internet website. Therefore the site owner is free to
establish whatever rules and policies he deems necessary or desirable. A
user agrees to the site's rules and policies when he/she signs on.............
No one is banned for whining about site rules. They usually just get laughed at and told to find another site if they can't live with TN's standards.
Bravo, well said......

Do skydivers need parachutes? Do scuba divers need tanks? Do I need more money? YES YES and YEEEES. Just as the chatrooms need Mods. Since the mods have been in chat it has made a 180 degree turnaround. They have made it a fun place to be again.
